See the Piazza Barberini, a square featuring a 17th-century fountain. Tour a 17th-century church and see a crypt housing the bones of many monks. Follow Via Veneto north to a gate of the Aurelian Walls. This street is located near one of Rome’s largest public parks, filled with historic attractions. See Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s 17th-century Triton Fountain in the Piazza Barberini. The centerpiece of the square, this fountain depicts a muscular Triton, a minor Greek sea god. Visit the Capuchin Church of the Immaculate Conception, a 17th-century church with a six-room crypt containing the bones of more than 4,000 monks. See the bones arranged on the walls in various patterns, including crosses and shapes. Notice a large clock made from human vertebrae.

Within a short walk beyond the Porta Pinciana gate, you will find the Villa Borghese public park. Its Bioparco di Roma is a zoological park with many animals, including lions, tigers, zebras and monkeys. Hire a pedicab or rent a bicycle and explore the Villa Borghese and its many historic attractions, including the Globe Theatre Rome and the Borghese Gallery.
