We were overall very pleased with this hotel. GREAT location, great price, plenty of free parking, access to bikes and shuttle, friendly staff, nice quiet courtyard and cozy atmosphere even though 5th avenue is so close by. We had a 2 bedroom suite and I was impressed by the amount of space, seating, and closets. The larger bedroom had a walk in closet large enough for a pack and play, so this became a comfortable third bedroom for my 2 year old. Everything was very clean with the exception of some dust and crumbs under the furniture (not a big deal). The kitchen is very small with no counter space, but we were able to use the large dining table for the little food prep we did and our food stored easily in the large fridge and on the many shelves in the living area. Appreciated the appliances (toaster, coffee maker, microwave). Can't comment on the food/drink service from the hotel as we didn't use it, but there are tons of nearby restaurants and coffee bars. Our only complaint was the bathroom plumbing. Had to double flush the toilet, the shower drain was slow, and the shower temperature fluctuated. Our shower curtain was also too small so we had a very wet bathroom floor. The positives far outweigh the negatives and I will definitely stay here again.

Sheets too small for the bed. Bed has just a sheet and the bedspread. One blanket in the closet(2 beds in room). I'm sure we could have gotten another blanket had we asked. Staff was very friendly. I requested a later than normal check out and got it. They had a nice complimentary hot breakfast too.
I had avery good experience at this hotel. IT took a little while to get over the fact that the facilities were not in good shape and the staff is so overworked. When I first arrived, the receptionist told me wait for my valet he will park your car, then wait for my butler he will carry your bags, then he took my car keys, parked the car, came back and carried my bas on the stairs because the elevator is broken. At midnight I called on my cellphone because the room phone was broken and ordered room services and up he came with it. But then the fact that they were so friendly and the homy feeling of the place took over. There are a few things that I'm still not happy about, including the absolute lack of greenery in the garden which is in sink with the lack of maintenance. IT's all just pebbles and a few old bushes. They don't give you much in the bathrooms either. Also in my room the windows were really stuck with paint and impossible to open. But overall the experience was very pleasant because of the very friendly service and excellent food and chatting with the service personnel. Please bring maintenance and some restauration to this mansion.
"Beautiful quiet B&B 1mi from the heart of the city"
Located between Shady Side and Squirrel Hill North, this B&B is a mile from city center, 0.5 mile from Carnegie Mellon, & 1.5 miles from Pittsburg University. What blew me away was how quiet and secluded the neighborhood is. I guess it helps being situated on the side of a hill away from Fifth Ave (a busy thoroughfare). On the next block is Walnut St - a hotspot of restaurants, bars, & boutique shops. Overall it is a safe, enjoyable, & lively area. Definitely a University town fell to the area.

This was our 6th time at this hotel when visiting, dropping off, or picking up our son at the University of Pittsburgh. The staff, amenities, location, and shuttle service are excellent. Looking forward to going back again!
Chock-full of universities, museums, and eclectic boutiques, Oakland abounds with cultural activities. Its Beaux-Arts complex, a 10-acre legacy of steel tycoon Andrew Carnegie, houses the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History. Visitors also find his “golden touch” at the famed Carnegie Mellon University. For delightful flora, pay a visit to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
