Kangaroo Valley Attractions

Just a short hop from Sydney and Canberra, Kangaroo Valley is one of the most beautiful destinations in Australia. Covered in rich green pastures, magical creeks and verdant rainforest, the valley is formed by towering rocky cliffs on either side. It’s a tranquil and peaceful sort of place, with a warm welcome from the locals and incredible wildlife to discover. Much of the valley falls within the Morton National Park, one of the largest in New South Wales, with some top walking routes and river-based fun to be had. Hampden Bridge - The only surviving suspension bridge from the colonial period features Gothic sandstone towers. Close by is the Pioneer Museum Park.

Fitzroy Falls - A small village that’s home to the stunning 81 metre waterfall also known as Yarrunga.

Greenwell Point - A small beach community that lies just outside the confines of the valley. A relaxing day out.

Morton National Park - Almost two hundred thousand acres of national park covering the southern highlands, coast and Illawarra region. Much of the valley lies within it.

Things to See in Kangaroo Valley

Visit the Yarrawa Estate, where they make some of the country’s finest wines. It’s nestled on one of the steep escarpments, with rich and fertile soil feeding the vines. You can also pick up a load of locally made goodies, as well as sampling the wines at the cellar door. There are olive groves to take in and some great boutique shopping throughout the valley. Learn more about how life used to be at the Kangaroo Valley Pioneer Village Museum or stroll across the historic Hampden Bridge, the only remaining wooden suspension bridge in the country. At various points along the valley, you can walk down to the river and enjoy a picnic by the water.

Things to Do in Kangaroo Valley

Explore more the of the valley on two wheels, following the bicycle routes here or see it from a different perspective with a canoe or kayak adventure down the river. There’s abundant wildlife to see on half, full or multi day excursions. Climb through the forest to Mt Moollootoo on horseback for some of the best riding in Australia or enjoy a round of golf on the championship course designed by Jack Newton. There are also some incredible bushwalking trails around the valley. Some of them can be a little tricky but they will get you to some incredible viewpoints out over the stunning landscape. It’s easy to see why Kangaroo Valley has a reputation as one of the most beautiful valleys in New South Wales and all of Australia.
