Find hotels in Strovles from £32

The best area to stay in Strovles is the Old Town, particularly around the Venetian Harbour, for its historic character and central location.

This area is the heart of Strovles, known for its narrow, winding alleys, Venetian architecture, and the iconic lighthouse at the harbour entrance. It's very walkable, with many restaurants, shops, and cafes lining the waterfront and the streets leading up from it. Landmarks like the Firkas Fortress and the Maritime Museum are found here.

Couples will find the Old Town particularly appealing. The romantic setting of the harbour, with its waterfront dining and sunset views, creates a memorable experience. There are also many boutique hotels tucked away in historic buildings, offering a more intimate stay.

For travellers looking for a more relaxed beach holiday with easy access to the Old Town, the Nea Chora district, just west of the harbour, is an excellent option. It offers a sandy beach with sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as a promenade lined with seafood tavernas. It's a short, pleasant walk along the coast to reach the Old Town.

The best time to go to Strovles is during the shoulder seasons, specifically from April to early June and again from September to October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures superb for exploring without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find the sea warm enough for swimming, and the natural landscape is at its most beautiful, with spring flowers or the golden hues of autumn.

For couples looking for a relaxed yet active holiday, these periods are ideal. You can enjoy hiking through the olive groves, visiting local wineries, or exploring the charming villages without feeling rushed. The evenings are mild, superb for dining outdoors.

Solo travellers will also appreciate the quieter atmosphere during the shoulder seasons. It's easier to connect with locals and experience authentic Cretan life, whether you're enjoying a coffee in a village square or exploring ancient ruins.
