"Our first two night stay on our three week tour of Scotland. Great dining and clearly a few stars above most. A gem of a luxury hotel. Also enjoyed the movie."

" Although the promotional material said there were gluten free options, these were very limited. At breakfast, there was just gluten free toast, no cereal or porridge. Otherwise, breakfast was buffet style, and plenty of it. Evening meal was just ok.My portion of chicken was very, very small, but tasted ok. My side of vegetables didn't arrive, the waiter said I didn't need them, as I had some veg on my plate! Maybe there was some confusion somewhere? My husband's meal was fine. We heard lots of other people complaining. I found the dessert of apple crumble and custard inedible. The waiters tried to be helpful, but the service from the kitchen was appalling. It took us almost 2 hours. We would stay at the hotel again, but would not have an evening meal there."

"I stayed for one night in May 2026, and my experience was okay. The bed was comfy, and I slept well, and all of the staff I encountered were very kind and helpful. I had dinner and breakfast there, and the food was overall pretty good. However, the property is very dated and when I arrived I found a long piece of wall/wallpaper hanging off the wall beside the main bed. It looked terrible, and the wall beside it was filthy. See pictures attached. I did ask to be moved rooms, and although the gentleman helping me was very kind and did speak to his manager to try and accommodate my request, I was told that the hotel was fully booked so I could not be moved. They did offer me a complimentary breakfast as a result, which was appreciated; however, the general shabiness of the room, with the wallpaper issue and dirty walls, plus glasses in the room that also looked a bit grubby, were all very off-putting, and certainly not the standard I would expect from a 4 star hotel. I would also add that having instant coffee packets at the breakfast, and only soya milk as a non-dairy alternative, were disappointing. "

"Hotel is in a fabulous location for visiting Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Our stay was a slightly mixed experience - mostly very good. The front desk staff were excellent and super helpful. One of the team sought us out when I’d inadvertently left the hire car running in the car park (thank you!). The restaurant staff who received us seemed a bit grumpy that we’d not made a reservation and our presence seemed a bit of an inconvenience to them - we were made to pay for a poor breakfast buffet before we were sat down. That said the fish’n’chips for dinner was absolutely superb!! The pint of Caledonia from the bar was one of the best beers I’ve ever had in my life!! It tasted like nectar, it had a creamy consistency and the head stayed all the way to the bottom of the glass. Absolutely fantastic after hiking Ben Lomond! The rooms were very good, spacious and clean and the facilities (pool, sauna, gym) were brilliant. The sitting room and the conservatory were lovely with very comfy, sofas. Generally the hotel is a bit “tired” and could do with some investment to brighten it up. I would happily stay here again and would recommend it - for the rooms, the facilities, the beer, the relaxation area and the lunches/dinners. I would just suggest having breakfast in “Skoosh” 100metres up the road from the hotel."

"Room 203. Some issues arose. The shower temperature was scaldingly hot no matter what setting was used at evening time. While there was a warning at the sink about hot temperatures, the shower was dangerous. I resorted to Steptoe & Son mode and washed the essentials in the sink. The pod/coffee maker was left with water in it which creates a doubt about cleanliness. The cups provided would not for under the coffee maker. There was a sliding door to the outside. One of the steps have a paving slab where the plaster/mortar had failed (trip hazard). The setting is beautiful."

"This hotel has the most beautiful surroundings- with wonderful scenic views. But it is soooooo dated. Rooms are big and spacious - but soo old and with carpets not really covering in the corners - windows full of old dirt and beds not worth spending the night in. Oh and the smell of old …If this place was renovated it would be an absolute gem. Food not that good - breakfast just the basics and not very well presented. The spa/pool has everything you need but again - could you fix the broken tiles the roof and make it just a bit more 2026 than 1986. The garden - the lake - the mountains. The location stunning! "
