"We had an absolutely wonderful week at Spike Cottage, Ridgehead Holiday Farm, betweem 15th to 22nd August.There were six of us, my wife and I, our two daughters, and our two Labradors, Ladoo and Kajoo. We honestly could not have asked for a better place to spend our week in the Peak District.The cottage was lovely, comfortable, very well equipped and quickly felt like home. The location is beautiful, peaceful and surrounded by gorgeous countryside, while being perfectly placed for exploring the Peak District. It was always lovely coming back to the cottage after a day out. Additional benefit at the cottage is the availability of an EV Charger.A special mention must go to Jo, who was a brilliant host. Communication was excellent and she was always incredibly responsive, friendly and helpful whenever we had a question.It was also wonderful to find somewhere that genuinely welcomed our Labradors. Ladoo and Kajoo thoroughly enjoyed their Peak District holiday too! There was ample space for them to run arounds in the nearby enclosed fields away from any farm animals, eventhough the cottage was on a working equine farm.We had a brilliant week, made some wonderful family memories and were genuinely sad when it was time to leave.A huge thank you to Jo. We would happily return to Spike Cottage and would recommend it without hesitation.Five very well deserved stars from all six of us! "

"Large property in a delightful village. Excellent location for walking Chrome Hill and surrounding area. Great communication with owner who promptly fixed the missing forks issue! No immediate parking, but you can park opposite and see your car from the window. Local pubs were good and we went to Alton Towers for the day too (30 mins) and Luds Church is worth the walk too. We ould recommend property for families (5 single beds, which was unusual and handy!) but perhaps not super ideal if you have dogs too (we left ours at home on this occasion) as small front garden only with a low wall and a yard and the owners have requested that dogs go toilet somewhere else, which is fair enough but could be a pain in the middle of the night! Just as heads up! All in all a lovely property in a lovely village thank you!"

"What can I say about this place that’s not Been said before!! What struck me most wasn’t just how sleek and modern the hotel is but how effortlessly everything works around you. Nothing felt like an afterthought. The staff have that balance of being incredibly attentive without being intrusive, and theres a genuine sense they care about your experience. We slept better than we have in ages, ate food that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a top restaurant, and most importantly for us our children were entertained, happy and safe throughout. There was a feeling of calm from the moment we arrived. We could actually switch off, relax and enjoy being together, which is something that’s surprisingly difficult to find. We left already planning another visit. That probably says more than any review ever could. An absolute Gem!! Get it booked."

"This was our second holiday at the cottage, as we loved our first stay so much that we decided to book again. We really appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as the complimentary toiletries, kitchen essentials, games, and DVDs in the lounge. The cottage is the perfect size for a family of four, and we especially enjoyed spending time in the garden, taking in the beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings. The location is also ideal, with popular attractions and walks such as Thor's Cave and the Dovedale river walk just a short drive away. We had another wonderful stay and would happily return again."

"Excellent place to stay with a family, our 3,6 and 11 year olds loved the outdoor spaces, the gardens and play areas are fantastic and the lounge areas are also great for families. The room was a good size and the dining room had great food at decent prices, esp as kids eat for £1! You can walk directly from the hostel to many different paths into countryside or dovedale. Our family loved this place, I highly recommend it."
