A room with a view

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Pros: The view through our room's windows/sliding doors to the balcony were some of of the best we have ever encountered and will be our abiding memory
Cons: The evening meals were somewhat lacking in daily variety; the background music became a little monotonous/repetitious after a while.
Location: The beach/sea is just down the hill. The Island's bus services have a good wide coverage to get to most sights, and special coach trips are bookable.
Our room which was on the first floor was pleasant, furnished to a good standard, with a nice clean en-suite (shower over bath style) attached. Room had standard terrestrial TV (with a few German stations thrown in). The Hotel is situated in a quiet residential area, which it overlooks. The main views though are of St Aubin's Bay, you can see from one end to the other. The lovely beach itself was a short walk from the Hotel, but you do have to cross quite a busy road to get there. We were glad that we had decided to stay outside St Helier, the Christina itself is about a mile outside. There was no main road noise, a big plus for us as we prefer quieter Hotels. Though access to the Island's road system is just at the end of their long entrance drive, it was a bit tricky at first to negotiate as it is turns rather sharply off the main road. We ate in a few times in the evening. Of the two restaurants available, we preferred the Terrace Bar. We cannot fault the Breakfast, it was help yourself and you had a large choice of both hot and cold dishes. Easily enough to keep you going for the day. We enjoyed our stay here and would consider going back again.

Overpriced,Don't commit to upgrade,Returned meals

Posted 19-Oct-2016
Pros: the views
Cons: food
Excellent breakfast but evening meals in restaurant and bar are very overpriced and the set menu is sparce! there was not lot of choice for us that we liked We had upgrade for 4 nights which cost almost £200 had we known what the food was like we would not of had an upgrade but you have to agree to it before you try the food! On Sunday we had our starter and then had to return two inedible almost cold roast dinners the beef was tough the roast potatoes and vegetables were hard The waiter asked if we wanted a different meal but the only choice for us was fish which we did not fancy so we just had a dessert the waiter said he would not charge us for the roasts just the starter and desserts considering we never had the roasts he wasn't doing us any favors but we did not want to make a fuss and I would not be mentioning it at all but when we got our bill on our last evening they had charged us for the roasts! I then had the uncomfortable embarrassment of having to go to reception to sort it out with the manager who said leave it with him he was going to ask the waiter but I felt he did not really believe me.So our last evening of holiday was spoilt as I was a bit upset over it all and we had to wait until the following morning to find out if they had amended the bill and yes they had taken off the exact price of the 2 roasts with not even an apology! I approached the manager as we were leaving he said he had spoken to the waiter and chef so probably that was when he believed me

Lovely huge bed

Posted 16-Oct-2016
Location: Jersey has a lot of things to see and do to suit all ages, but for us the beaches are the big attraction.
The bed was so huge and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet delicious, and the restaurant and terrace grill just right after a busy day sightseeing, all in all I can honestly say that we would definitely come back to this hotel.

Excellent staff. Very attentive. Lovely hotel.

Location: Beautiful sea view. Quiet location. We walked into St. Helier and back - probably too far for a lot of people but not for us. Much to do.
Fantastic buffet breakfast and dining facilities . Great dining. Fine hotel. Clean. Lovely staff.

Lovely Hotel

Posted 07-Oct-2016
Pros: Staff, food and cleanliness
Location: Great location Access to all the island by bus. Bus stop just down the road.
Throughly enjoyed my stat at the Cristina. The staff were lovely, the food was good and nothing was a problem. They were very attentive. The views are stunning across the bay. There is a bus route just down the hill from the hotel with easy access around the island. Please be aware that this hotel is on a steep hill but this didn't worry us as you have a lovely hotel awaiting you at the top. I have stayed in other hotels on the island but this is by far the best for a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Definitely will return. Made my stay a happy and rememerable one.

Very pleased with our stay.

Posted 28-Sep-2016
Pros: Staff friendliness, views, location (quiet), food was good with a wide selection for breakfast. Good loyalty scheme.
Cons: Access could be difficult for older or more infirm customers.
Location: Quiet location, which we like but would recommend a car to people staying there. Nowhere in Jersey is too far away or takes too long to get there.
We have been to Jersey several times but never stayed in this area. We were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel, the room was very clean when we arrived & all the staff were friendly & helpful - it seemed nothing was too much trouble. We'll definitely remember it should we visit again.

Good hotel.

Posted 27-Sep-2016
Pros: The view, the staff.
Cons: For the price, everything was reasonable.
Location: On Jersey, everything is nearby! But, unless you eat in the hotel, hire a car or catch local buses there are no places to eat within easy distance.
A good 'chain' hotel. Reasonable breakfast choice. Reasonable rooms. Great views over the bay from every room. The downside of this is the walk up to the hotel from the nearest bus stop - a steep incline and lots of steps. I'd strongly advise hiring a car or getting taxis back to the hotel. It's fairly easy going down! Pleasant and helpful staff.

We had a sea view room, which I must say had a fabulous view over the whole bay including Elizabeth Castle. It was also very clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. The Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and always seemed to have time for you. Beautiful views from the restaurant and bar/ terrace as well as good food made eating there very enjoyable. If I was going to have one small niggle, it would only be that it is not very well signposted from the main road. We caught the bus from the airport (very straightforward ) the bus driver sent us up a road with no pavement, bit scary as quite busy. It is signposted here but I think more for motorists than on foot as it takes you to the hotel carpark. The next road along the main road is absolutely fine and quiet and takes you up to the hotel through the hotel gardens. Very straightforward. We loved it and would definately stay again. Loved it.

Hotel offering relaxing stay

Posted 25-Sep-2016
Pros: The position was great, the rooms were clean, facilities very good.
Cons: The mattress could be softer. The entrance is tricky to manoeuvre, but the hotel know this.
Location: Location was halfway between St Helier and St Aubin. Jersey has lots of things on offer. We enjoyed a visit to Elizabeth Castle.
Hotel Cristina is situated high above the sweep of St Aubin's Bay and offers great views of the shoreline. We had a hired car and were always able to find a parking space though mostly in the upper car park. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was of the normal hotel standard and it was pleasant to have the view of the bay while contemplating the day ahead. We also ate dinner in the Indigo Restaurant once and in the bistro twice, with the food being well presented and tasty. Our room was in the older part of the hotel overlooking the car park but we had no problems with noise or disturbance probably mainly because the clientele at the time seemed to be mostly older couples who were unlikely to create a din. Our only complaint would be with the comfort of the bed. The mattress was hard. It didn't stop us from having a good night's sleep, however a bit more give would have been welcome. It wouldn't stop us from staying here again.
