10/10 Excellent

"Lovely, lovely place. Comfortable bed and great shower in our beautifully decorated room. Two very slight downsides... The creaking of the laminate floor in the room and the full english breakfast could've used another egg, another slice of toast and another hash brown. Those are the most minor of gripes, though, and no way would either stop us returning. Excellent pub food served downstairs from a very extensive menu. Only a 15 minute bus ride into Scarborough centre - bus stop directly outside - where I'd expect to pay more than double for this standard of accommodation."

"We stayed a couple of yrs before and it was dirty needed decorating carpets etc but gave it another go this time and was pleasantly surprised . Smelt fresh everywhere new decor , carpets our family seaview room was big and lovely . Only thing we could say was windows need cleaning but overall great"

"Very welcoming staff, nothing too much trouble for him. Lovely quiet room at the rear, although I would imagine rooms at the front are quiet too as this is a peaceful crescent in Scarborough. Great facilities in the room, shower gel etc. tea/coffee making stuff too. Books to read in the room… very tastefully decorated & homely. We would certainly stay here again without hesitation. We were room only but there are plenty of places to get breakfast nearby. Train station a 5 minute walk away. Lots of restaurants & bars/pubs all within walking distance."

"We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor but it was very hot as a result of the recent high temperatures. This made sleep difficult until the early hours of the morning when the weather cooled. All the staff we encountered were great - very helpful, pleasant and cheerful. Breakfast was standard but absolutely no complaints. It is a very old property but some way of keeping the upper rooms cooler in high summer temperatures would be a major improvement.. perhaps by increasing the roof insulation"

"Lovely hotel with old school charm and wonderful helpful staff. Very dog friendly and made our dog very welcome with treats and even breakfast sausage. The breakfast was outstanding being freshly cooked with high quality produce. A really thoughtful touch was the offer of tableware to enjoy a takeaway in the room (and enjoy the view) which again was really dog friendly as it can be hard finding eateries that welcome dogs. Location great just over the road from South Cliff gardens which are stunning. No problem finding free street parking nearby. Will definitely return. Thanks."

"Courteous staff. Good selection of food at breakfast but I was told that I could not have a cappuccino at breakfast time! As I only eat a croissant with a cappuccino for breakfast, I had to cross the road to a coffee shop. Parking facility was good. For dinner, I opted for the plaice, only to find that the size of the portion was about right for a five years old. The quiet ambience in the dining room was appreciated. Overall, I think that eating out elsewhere would have been preferable"

"This is a lovely hotel full of character. Yes it looks a little scruffy on the outside but the inside is good. Every member of staff was pleasant & helpful especially on the front desk for checking in & out. We arrived early & asked about a parking permit & the lovely lady not only sorted us a parking space but also let us have our room key even thought we were a few hours early 😊 Our room was clean & had everything we needed, the walls are thin as we could hear the people next door but we were only there for 1 night so it didn't bother us,the bed was comfortable. The bar area is nice & the buffet breakfast was good. We were there for a concert at the open air theater & the location of the hotel was spot on for this, just a few minutes walk away. We enjoyed our stay at the Clifton & would definitely do it again 😊"
