"Lovely hotel and staff were first class. I would rate a 5*, but for two things: -No air conditioning in the bedrooms in the main hotel. I believe this is planned at some stage. - we had the snug room on the top floor. Lovely room and big bathroom. But it had 4 velux windows and so no view. Not a major problem as we only stayed for a short 2 night break. However the real problem was at night, when heavy rain made us feel we were in a drum. So sleep deprived both nights. It is worth paying a bit more for a room on the first or second floors. Martin Hill"

The Maynard

The Maynard

8/10 Good
"When arriving check in was easy, was met by a lovely manager who gave us the key to our room. Myself and children were in room 7. It was very spacious, clean and freshly decorated. The bathroom was clean and also had a bath in there which was a lovely addition as we love a bath! It had a double bed and bunk beds. I found the mattress and pillows too soft as I prefer firm but that’s just my personal preference. The bunkbeds and double bed did creak a lot which wasn’t great when trying to sleep. There was plenty of teabags, coffee etc in the room. Housekeeping came and put fresh towels in everyday and stocked up the tea and coffee which was great. Staff were friendly too. Breakfast is served across at the Rowntree which was very good. The only other thing I’d say is we had 2 plug sockets that didn’t seem to work so we struggled with the lack of sockets overall."
