nice hotel close to the old city, shopping area

Posted 06-Sep-2015
Cons: the car parking fee is a bit too high, we have paid 90 EURO for 6 days. we had a room with no view but just to the parking area.
Location: within a walkable distance from the main attractions - old city and beaches alike.
great staff. a nice and quick welcome. we have asked to move into a larger suite for the last three nights of our stay for an additional fee, but we have been upgrated to a larger suite right on our arrival with extra charge for the first threenights. that was absolutley a nice gesture.

Good base for exploring Sorrento

Posted 31-Jul-2015
Pros: We particularly liked the spacious rooms, effective air-con, being able to self cater, the staff.
Cons: It would be helpful to have a few more facilities on the last day after you have checked out at 10am.
Location: 10-minute walk to Tasso Square. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Beware of public boat trips in high season as they are uncomfortably crowded.
We spent two weeks at Rota Suites and it made an excellent base for exploring the area. So long as you are expecting a town-centre apartment, not a scenic beach-side hotel, you will not be disappointed. The suites are spacious with simple, modern furnishings and equipment. Air con worked well and the wifi was OK in the living area of the suite (but not in the bedroom). We didn't sit on the balconies because the weather was so hot, but they were still useful for drying towels etc. Raffaella and the other staff were unfailingly friendly, helpful and efficient which made our stay more enjoyable. Access to the Riviera hotel was definitely a benefit, to enjoy the terrace with sea views etc. which you don't have in the suites themselves. We particularly liked being able to sit in the shade at the bottom of the cliffs by the bathing platform.

3 days in sorrento

Posted 10-Jul-2015 on Hotels
we stayed three nights at Rota Suites in July 2015. Overall, property worked out great for us. We had a sea view from our balcony (nice), plenty of space for the three of us, self-service ice machine in hall-way (great for Americans :-) ), and good air conditioning. the location is a little out of the way as most of the 'action' in sorrento is on the other side of town; however, it's only a 10-15 minute walk away. some things to keep in mind. the rooms are self-catering so there is no room service nor maid service. there also isn't a pool but for $12 Euro per person, residents can use a hotel pool a five minute walk away. [BTW, our only bad episode was with the towel guy at the hotel beach club who went out of his way to boss around my 12 year old for wasting towels.] laundry service is avail in a common area downstairs for $8/load self-serve.
