Wonderful Hotel

Posted 13-Jun-2016
Pros: Comfortable bed, great view, fridge in room and friendly helpful staff
Cons: The coffee please
Location: Excellent location with great views of Mount Vesuvius and a short stroll on the flat to the town centre
This is our third year in this hotel and we will definitely go back again next year. The location, the views, the staff and the comfort are excellent from the moment you arrive until we reluctantly have to leave. The only issue I have is the coffee at breakfast - I love my morning coffee and love strong Italian coffee; but what they serve is difficult to like - very strong and very bitter in taste. Please do something about changing this and recognise that the palates and tastes of your guests have changed over the years and what might once have been acceptable is no longer.

Lovely hotel, with kind and friendly staff

Posted 10-Jun-2016
Pros: Everything
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: A walk away from the crowded centre
In a quiet part of town, largely free of crowds, with a proper pool, colourful gardens and a sense of space in the public areas. The staff are wonderfully kind, friendly and helpful. An excellent choice for a calm break, though there is often music in the form of a violin or piano for evening meals. This adds to the generally relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast is available inside or out in the gardens. Food is rather better than you'd usually expect from a hotel. Altogether a charming place and, as a guest, a fine experience.

Bel hôtel chambre à rénover !!

Posted 04-Jun-2016

The hotel was very noisy. They don't have any carpet, it's all marble/tile. So you hear every little noise.

Good position. 8minutes walk to town. Average hote

Posted 19-May-2016
Pros: Location was good. We enjoy a walk, and it was only 8 minutes or so comfortable walk to the town centre
Location: Everything in town is accessible via walking, and all distance excursions are accessible via taxis and private cars and car services.
Generally unfriendly, and only moderately helpful. Check in was OK, but we did not feel that welcome feeling we attained at the other hotels throughout our trip, and this extended from the reception staff through to the breakfast staff. We were given room 519, that is neither on the 5th or 6th floor, and it required accessing via a storage area near the pool, or walking the entire length of the 5th floor and then up two flights of stairs. But, on saying that it was a large room with a good balcony. One day the cleaners emptied our bins and took out the dirty towels, but didn't replace them and forgot to clean the room

Over promised, under-delivered

Posted 17-May-2016
The breakfast was good. But we had issues. 1. Their website claims beach access, "two steps away". This is false. The only beach access is from their sister property down the street. 2. Unlike any hotel I've used, they make you sign for your drinks, then your meal when it's ordered. Nothing at the end (it goes on your bill). No prices listed on the slip. Why? 3. If not for #2 and a photo for Vivino, we would have been overcharged for our wine at checkout the next morning. They adjusted when we complained, but the process was fishy - and no apology. 4. There are much nicer hotels in Sorrento for the money and experience.

Fabulous stay,friendly staff, highly recommended!

Posted 15-May-2016
Pros: The lovely foyer, big rooms and friendly staff.
Cons: A few extra things at breakfast...omelette/pancakes etc and bigger coffee cups. A warmer heated swimming pool.
Location: Only a short stroll from the main Piazza. Lots of shops, restaurants, coffee shops etc. There is also park round the corner for children.
We have just come back from a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were so friendly and accomodating especially with our nearly two year old. Rooms were fab for a standard classic room lots of space, big bed and the bath equally as big. The garden patio was lovely to sit in of an afternoon and was secure enough for our daughter to run around and play in. Breakfast was lovely also. The only let down was that the swimming pool is not heated and was freezing which meant our daughter could not enjoy it. Cannot recommend enough for a pleasant stay in Sorrento.

Bel hôtel à Sorrento

Posted 01-May-2016

Round the corner from Piazza Tasso

Posted 01-May-2016
Pros: Everything - no cause for complaint at all!
Cons: Nothing
Location: Lots to do - Vesuvius, Pommpei, Herculeum, Positano, Capri, Amalfi and Sorrento itself is gorgeous!
What a wonderful, beautiful hotel the Grand de la Ville is. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is excellent, and the rooms are comfortable. Best Sorrento hotel we've stayed in!
