Good hotel with brilliant staff

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: The staff in the dinning room were brilliant. They were very friendly and very accommodating and look like they really enjoy their job.
Cons: Coffee offered as part of dinner and pool that opened earlier in the morning.
Location: Only a short 15 minute walk into the centre of Sorrento. 5 minute walk to the Hotel Royal with the private beach.
We stopped at the Hotel De la Ville for 7 nights half board in August holidays. The hotel was very comfortable and the rooms we had at the front of the hotel were excellent. The air-conditioning was much appreciated and the views of the bay of Naples was great. There were two pools (one on the roof and one at the back of the hotel) but we didn't spend any time at them as we spent most of our time at the private "beach" at the Royal Hotel which is the slightly more upmarket sister hotel of the De la Ville. Suggest you get to the "beach" before 09:00 to ensure that you get a sun bed.

good location, great views.

Posted 17-Aug-2016
Pros: Amazing views from the roof top pool...we had read that some guests struggled to get sunbeds but we never found this a problem during our visit.
Cons: Nothing....wish I could go straight back!
Location: The location of the hotel is good. A 10 minute to walk to Tasso square (the centre of Sorrento) part of which is through a lemon grove.
Fantastic stay....friendly, helpful staff, beautifully appointed rooms, delicious buffet breakfast with a vast range of choices.

Pros: Location, decor and friendly staff.
Cons: Some of the bathroom facilities looked a little tired, but very clean and overall fine.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is decorated beautifully and just a very short walk into town / from the train station. I was pleased not to be staying in the centre of town as it was very busy and crowded, whereas the location of this hotel is very peaceful. Our room had a balcony and sea view which really added to the experience! The food was very good, and views from the rooftop pool were amazing. You can also use the private beach area of a nearby hotel, which is really worth doing - we only discovered this on our last day and wished we'd been sooner!

Great for gluten free!

Posted 30-Jul-2016
Great location, only a 10 minute walk to the busy main square where there are loads of restaurants and shops. The restaurant staff were fantastic. My husband is a coeliac and it was very important that he had gluten free food. The staff knew exactly what he could have and there was an extensive choice, including chips fried in a dedicated GF fryer which was luxury as this is very difficult to find in the uk! He got his own plate at breakfast with GF cereal, bread, cake and biscuits. They also GF pasta but not pizza and several salads, ommelettes and other things. The maids were very friendly and did an excellent job working hard all day. The room was always immaculate. The bar staff were also very friendly and helpful. Only slight problem was that we were in Sorrento as part of a large group attending a wedding and when my cousin came over to our hotel to spend a couple of hours with us, the lady on reception told us, quite snottily, that he was not allowed to use the pool. This is a shame as we went to other people's hotels and didn't have any problems. There was also some confusion over booking a taxi to the airport on the way home. The guy was new and did eventuay get us on a shuttle bus so all turned out OK. Being able to use the 'beach' (a pier) at the nearby hotel so we could swim in the sea was brilliant. Overall we had a great stay at this hotel.

Ideal hotel for Sorrento holiday

Posted 26-Jul-2016
Pros: It's position. The outside pool and roof terrace. The breakfast patio and garden restaurant. Our comfortable and clean room.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Location: Short stroll to centre of town for shops/cafes/bars/restaurants. Museum very close. Swim in sea at sister hotel. Ferry to Capri.
The ideal hotel for our holiday. We wanted easy access to the train station/buses/shops/centre of Sorrento. Everything was in walking distance. However we also needed to relax and be spoilt. The staff were all helptul and friendly and the waiters both at breakfast and when we had a meal in the evening, were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel was tranquil with a very calm but happy ambience.

Wonderful Hotel

Posted 13-Jun-2016
Pros: Comfortable bed, great view, fridge in room and friendly helpful staff
Cons: The coffee please
Location: Excellent location with great views of Mount Vesuvius and a short stroll on the flat to the town centre
This is our third year in this hotel and we will definitely go back again next year. The location, the views, the staff and the comfort are excellent from the moment you arrive until we reluctantly have to leave. The only issue I have is the coffee at breakfast - I love my morning coffee and love strong Italian coffee; but what they serve is difficult to like - very strong and very bitter in taste. Please do something about changing this and recognise that the palates and tastes of your guests have changed over the years and what might once have been acceptable is no longer.

Lovely hotel, with kind and friendly staff

Posted 10-Jun-2016
Pros: Everything
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: A walk away from the crowded centre
In a quiet part of town, largely free of crowds, with a proper pool, colourful gardens and a sense of space in the public areas. The staff are wonderfully kind, friendly and helpful. An excellent choice for a calm break, though there is often music in the form of a violin or piano for evening meals. This adds to the generally relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast is available inside or out in the gardens. Food is rather better than you'd usually expect from a hotel. Altogether a charming place and, as a guest, a fine experience.

Bel hôtel chambre à rénover !!

Posted 04-Jun-2016
