Excellent location

Posted 31-Aug-2015
Pros: The atmosphere and charm of the staff and hotel.
Location: Easy to visit sites such as Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast via public transport.
A wonderful hotel in an excellent location overlooking the Bay of Naples. The staff were very friendly and courteous. We enjoyed the breakfasts but didn't use the main restaurant preferring to eat out at local restaurants. The Sorrento area is an excellent holiday base and we made full use of public transport which was within easy walking distance from the hotel. We would recommend this hotel for those looking for a quiet, elegant hotel in an outstandlingly beautiful area of Italy.

Close to the centre of sorrento

Posted 30-Aug-2015
Location: Walking distance to the centre of sorrento, easy to reach the beach, ferriies and boats for trips, also only a short walk from the train station.
Good hotel, views of the coast from the terrace. Wonderfully big pool, great for proper swimmers! Helpful staff, great breakfast, happy hour each day 7-8 and every day at 4 an Ice cold food treat for those around the pool which was lovely.

Cons: Nothing.

Classy hotel

Posted 12-Aug-2015
Pros: Read above
Cons: Not much
Location: Superb location , No more than 10 mins from anything.
Very stylish "old fashioned " hotel with a quality feel. The staff really make it as they are so attentive and friendly. The food is excellent and the breakfast menu extensive. The maid service was better than any 5 star hotel Ive been to.it's location is one of the best in the town. 5 out of 5. Only because I can't give 6.

Pleasant stay

Posted 06-Aug-2015
We stayed at the Hotel Continental for our honeymoon, July 2015. It was an overall pleasant stay. Room was comfortable and good (well needed) AC. Bed was excellent and the chocolates on the turn down were a nice treat every night. The general feel of the hotel is clean, but a little shabby in places - for example the view from our room was a wall which hadn't seen a lick of paint in 20 years and the table and chair on our balcony was rusty to the point of losing 2 inches of chair leg at one point! The pool area is huge, but not very exciting - constant battle for a sun lounger which wasn't covered with a towel - but nobody lying on it for hours at a time. Very annoying! Breakfast was interesting. Lots of choice if you're big on European savoury food items such as ham/cheese/roast vegetables and chips. If not, there is still a decent variety, but it was all fairly bland (dry pastries etc). Excellent choice of fruit juice and jams. The staff in the hotel were excellent and were helpful and friendly at all times - apart from 1 member of staff who worked in the pool bar. He was a right misery guts, and made me feel uncomfortable more than once with his rude manner. I would possibly return again if I was in Sorrento, but there are so many other stunning hotels there, I would shop around first.

Superb hotel, centrally situated.

Posted 02-Aug-2015
Pros: The facilities e.g. swimming pool which was very clean and pool bar which served great food! We would recommend the Insalata Caprese!
Cons: Some tonic water in our fridge!!
Location: Great location close to shops, port and harbour. Loads of restaurants close by.
We had a fantastic holiday; the staff at the hotel are amazing. Everyone we met was polite and helpful. The hotel is in a great position; it is easy to get to the Port, old fishing village or wander in the many cobbled streets with a variety of shops and restaurants close by.

Very good but older hotel. Sea view room had excellent views. Clean with courteous staff. Very good breakfast. Very good location, close to restaurants and shopping.
