Great Simple Hotel - Excellent Staff
From the moment you walk in, you are treated like Royalty. The Staff at this hotel was top notch...so helpful - so gracious - just perfect. The hotel is nothing special from the outside - but inside it has nice clean lines...a great spot for breakfast in the morning - with either a more traditional Japanese breakfast or a "western" breakfast - with asian flair. If you have a choice between a double room - two beds or a queen bed - choose the double - it is a much larger room - very basic but comfortable. The hotel is across the street from the bus and train station allowing you to travel easily from here. The hotel also offers a free bus ticket for the shuttle to the ski mountain which is great.
One night we couldn't find this little restaurant and came back to the hotel to ask for directions...the young woman at the front desk (I believe her name was Mei?) actually asked her partner to watch the front desk and she walked us to where we could see the restaurant - outside - in the cold and snow with just her light blouse, skirt and work shoes! We were freezing and kept saying "no no - that's okay" but she insisted ...now that's service! There is a small onsen - always nice to relax, and the amenities in the rooms and in the onsen are wonderful.
