"Hotel was very clean and staff all lovely. Our room needed a lick of paint but otherwise ok. Blackout curtains work really well. No chamomile tea in room for bedtime but available at breakfast was a bit odd. Wide choice at breakfast but the black pudding and hash browns were tasteless. Lockers in leisure club were awful I tried 3 lockers before found one that worked but then couldn’t get my stuff out after my swim. Pool quite small and other swimmers couldn’t see the sense in all swimming clockwise to keep us all moving. Gym facilities seemed good but that area was very warm. Overall beautiful building, good parking, well located and a good sleep. Staff were great."

"Pretty good! A smorgasbord of delights at breakfast, humongous bed to sleep in and we opted out of getting our room cleaned so we’re given 2 £7.50 drinks vouchers for the bar, what a result. Would definitely stay again if visiting York."

Grand Hotel Scarborough

"I have seen the reviews for the Scarborough Grand but thought it was worth trying it out for ourselves to see how accurate they were. I'm glad we did. Conveniently placed for both town and promenade with a handy safe 24 hour multi-storey car park just around the corner (£27 for 48 hours). The Scarborough Grand reception area is lovely and retains much of it's grandeur. The check in experience was one of only a few areas for improvement - we had checked in and paid online so expected the express check in option to be available as stated (ie just given the key) but it wasn't and we were stuck in a queue for 20 mins with a coach party so the online check-in was a complete waste of time. The room itself was absolutely fine - clean and tidy with a sea view and a good tv with nearly all channels available for a change on the East Yorkshire coast ! Only slight downers were the dirty windows and the hot water which took a while to heat up and was then a bit sporadic and not all that hot really. The bathroom was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable enough and clean and we both slept well. Morning breakfast was lovely and everything was kept topped up so no issues at all. The main bar area was perfectly fine but the outside balcony area was just about a no go area with the strong winds. We will be back to try a Family Room with our Grandchildren at Halfterm. Overall our experience was much better than 2.4/5 - more 4 to 4.5/5 but may very well be room/area specific qnd so variable."

"Stayed for two nights in one of their superior rooms, it was very clean and had everything we needed, the bed was very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, Breakfast was excellent, great choice, well presented and something for all tastes Will be happy to recommend this hotel"
