Beautiful grounds accessed from the bar/rear of restaurant area - literally step outside and there they are. 10-15 minutes walk from the front of the hotel takes you into Sandsend, lovely village. Walk in the opposite direction takes you to Whitby, can walk or take car. Reception asked what our plans were each day, gave us parking disc for Whitby...gives you 3 hours in designated areas..perfect. Lovely hotel for a break that can be as relaxing or busy as you want it to be.

Stayed for just one night as part of our exploration of the great North East coast and really wished we could have stayed longer. We stayed in room 4 which was a delightful suite with a mezzanine bedroom. The room was spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. A great value for money stay. My private ensuite room basic but functional as simply needing somewhere to sleep. Hand soap provided in room but no towels. The property does have self catering kitchens, a tv room, lounge (with board games) and conservatory. The adjoining cafe (which is open to the public) serves full breakfasts from 7.30am and closes as 8.30pm. We were not aware but we had booked the 'Romantic Package'- bottle of bubbly waiting for us and a box of chocolates, a lovely surprise. Delightful room with 4 poster bed. Ate in the evening, extensive menu and excellent food. Good breakfast and Buck's Fizz came with our package. Excellent service from everyone, good value for money. Very popular with locals so advisable to book a table if you want to eat there.

Stayed here several times. The hotel is excellent, the staff are amazing, the food is so gorgeous - just too much of it ! The rooms (and we have several different ones) are warm, inviting and immaculate. All have TVs and tea making facilites with an ample choice of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, all are en-suite and the bathrooms are spotless along with a good supply of towels and comp toiletries.
