The staff here are so friendly and knowledgeable about the history of this beautiful hotel We always stay here, we absolutely love it 5 stars for the staff. It was a greally lovely stay. the place was really sweet and beautifully decorated. The staff were really lovely and attentive. Arriving early was no problem for us and we could drop our bags off etc etc so they were great. The location was excellent and you could walk into the centre of town within 5-10 mins! The cleanliness of the place was impressive. I loved how clean it was. We were on the top floor. The only issue was the quietness. I say quietness because it was not really noisy. The house was old, so you could hear the floors creaks and the pipes a little bit We are light sleepers so we struggled a little bit.

When we first arrived, I thought "oh, no". Lobby is dark, entire place is tucked away, no A/C, and no lift. We had to haul our luggage up 37 steps of a NARROW, spiral staircase. Our room was clean and adequate, and actually had the biggest, nicest, newest shower of anyplace we've stayed so far. (4th hotel of this trip) There was a fan in the room, and they brought a second one upon our request. I'll have to admit, that even in August, with the window open and the fans, we were COMPLETELY comfortable and slept well. The location, right in the city center is very convenient. So, despite my initial skepticism, this hotel was completely satisfactory and a good value.
