Stay away until they are done remodeling

Posted 02-Oct-2017
Cons: It would seem no one from the Marriott tests their hotel rooms. No USB portals (!), one plug in the bath and a $7 CVS hairdryer...for how much/night?
Marriott has a different definition of "intermittent noise" than do I. Two-three hours of jack hammering in an open air atrium is a bit much. It is actually noisier in the atrium than the room. The loud work was in force towards end of day--when one returns to the room after a full day in hopes of some relaxation before regrouping for dinner. Perhaps it was the same all day, who knows? The truly disheartening thing is to realize that the employees are subject to such all day long. What does this say about Corporate --clearly don't seem to care about their employees... Supposedly the bathrooms are being redone--and not a moment too soon. The bathrooms currently have a full size tub, separate from the shower. Nice--no one wants to sit in a tub where so many guests before them have stood. However, this leaves the shower the size of a postage stamp, perhaps 30x30, if that. In addition, the shower head is a rain shower; low flow, short, little room in the 30x30 square to manuever and if you wish to move the rain shower head to an angle, you are nose to the tile. Ironically Marriott acknowledges that people don't like to be rained upon by providing an umbrella in your room for those unpredictable showers the City can provide but they don't seem to get that most people tryuly don't want to be rained upon and thus have an outdated shower head.

Nice hotel in Union Square

Posted 30-Sep-2017
Pros: The location of this hotel was good.
Cons: The room has a musty smell to it. The windows were thin and the noise level on the street was loud.
Location: This hotel was right in Union Square and perfect for getting around everywhere.
The JW Marriott was a nice hotel. I've stayed in nicer Marriotts though and felt this hotel wasn't up to the Marriott Standards I've been use to.

Over priced

Cons: The bedding and coffee pot
Location: Adequate
It was clean and well appointed. The only coffee machine in the room only made espresso and I prefer regular coffee so we had to get dressed immediately after waking up to go out and get the morning cup. The pillows were hard and the bed was uncomfortable. The air conditioner didn't seem to be working and it was hot. The windows are paper thin. We were on the 8th floor overlooking the street and heard the traffic all night. A woman down below was arguing with someone at 5:30 am and we could hear the whole thing and couldn't sleep through it. We checked out early and were exhausted, not having slept all night.

Well located and professionally managed. The lobby is a bit confusing but in general a good hotel for brief stay.

King size bed for family of four

Posted 23-Aug-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Makeover
I think the title of this post says it all. Booked a room for my wife and my two young kids for two nights. We usually get a room with two queen size beds and to my surprise the room only had one bed. I was not given any solution for the first night because "we are sold out". This hotel is old and in bad condition. The service is TERRIBLE. Not what I expect from a JW Marriott.
