Beautiful hotel close to Union Square

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was in town for a run and asked for a late check out - they did so without hesitation. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city.

Not a great hotel for a JW

Not a great hotel for JW. Rooms were cleaned everyday but amenities are not replenished. Have to special request for bottled water, bathroom slippers and dental kit even on the first day we came in. Hotel staff wasn't particularly helpful or friendly when we had some issues with the checkin and check out. Also check your bill - was charged with minibar consumption even though we didn't have anything, but they did waive it off eventually.

Bait and Switch View Room

The description on the rooms I booked were "Room with View" and I paid extra for the view. However, when we got to the hotel, the front desk said Expedia's reservation did not indicate a VIEW room so they would not give me one unless I paid more. I called Expedia and I said I did pay extra for the view but Expedia said the view was an "amenity" and would only be given to me if they were "available" when I checked in. So we stayed in a room without a view but paid the extra amount. While we stayed, housekeeping walked in on us while we were in bed. They knocked and with no wait or attempt to allow us to respond, just walked in. As soon as they saw us in bed, they said sorry and walked out. The hotel still has done nothing to address it except to say they won't walk in if the double lock is on. I attempted to reach hotel staff 4 times but they did not offer anything.

Close to everything

Pros: Everything was within walking distance
Cons: Level 3, the lobby was very damp due to the open plan
Location: good location for shopping and eating
Good Location and good staff. lower level room can hear the people and noise coming from the lobby on level 3

Disappointment

The receptionist was rude and arrogant regarding Marriott points not allowed. The room heater/furnace clanked all night, there was an emptiness to the hotel even though it was at Union Square in SF. Staying in SF numerous times throughout the year, I have yet to experience this attitude and lack of friendliness of staff. The restaurant, albeit empty, was very good with the chef coming out to talk to us and bring us chocolate dipped strawberries. That was the only time I felt comfortable. I will not return to JW Marriott in SF.

Excellent service from the staff. Bellman made sure we had umbrellas to take with us while we were out for the day. Very nice!!

Great hotel int he heart of Union Sq.

Cons: Level III staff should pay attention to customers who are there!
The staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. The room was nice, clean and comfortable.Free Illy coffee in the room. The layout of the hotel is q little overwhelming - it's huge with a large open atrium. The only negative experience I had was that I booked an early luncheon for a business meeting and the Level III restaurant staff was inattentive to us while they were setting up the room. Other than that, quite a good experience.

Jason in the bar was great. Always taking good care of us and makeing sure we had everything we needed, and just a great guy to visit with.
