Perfect placement and a really charming hotel.

Posted 26-Feb-2018
Pros: The size of the room was perfect for one person, and even though I didn't interact with the staff a great deal, they were always pleasant and polite.
Cons: I really didn't spend enough time in my room to feel that anything really needed to be changed.
Location: There are restaurants and cafes along the street right by the hotel, and you are within walking distance to most of downtown.
I had no expectations for this hotel when I booked it. I'll admit I was a little resentful at the price for really just needing a place to sleep and shower each morning/night, but by the end of my trip, I felt that it was worth the price. And to be honest, it really wasn't any more expensive compared to other hotels in the area. The room was very clean, the staff was polite and friendly, and you really can't beat the location. It's really close to downtown, and there's lots of cafes and restaurants nearby if you just feel like walking around the city. I really only use a hotel for the bed and shower, so I usually don't want the staff to clean each day, but the cleaning staff here left a note on my door stating that I could call down to the front desk to ask for clean linens or towels, even after the cleaning shifts were over for the day. I thought that was a very nice touch. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to others who need a place in the city.

Never again

No where in the description nor reviews that said this hotel didn't have a/c. Never going back again. Really small rooms too.

Old, tiny rooms with hard beds, no water pressure

Great location at Union Square but the rooms and the hotel generally are run down and uncomfortable. I would never stay there again.

It was pretty good. Breakfast was very simple, but considering the rate I got, I can't complain. The room was small, but perfect for a solo traveller. The location is amazing, near shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Union Square is half a block away. The cable car final stop at Powell is 2 blocks away (every night I would sit by the window to watch the cable cars coming and going, which was lovely).Wifi worked pretty well. The only complaint I have is about the shower, which had very low pressure. But apart from that, I really enjoyed my stay at the Stratford and would definitely go back.

The hotel staff are so friendly and always willing to help. The location is the best, near to the union square The rooms are quite small and do not have too much storage space but probably If I visit again SF I would choose again

the location is centrally accessible. Near stores and places to eat. Just around the corner are the hop on and hop off tour buses.

Hotel is in a magical location if you are traveling in from SFO airport. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Room was warm for winter stay and very quiet.

Gem on Union Square

Room is tiny but very clean. No refs, microwave or coffee machine but there are many food choices around the hotel.

A hostel for adults.

Posted 17-Dec-2017
The location is excellent. The hotel needs to be gutted. It looks like a hostel. Extremely loud street noise. TV is very small, mounted from ceiling as there is no space for a piece of furniture to sit it on, and completely fuzzy. So old that the rooms don’t even have safety deadbolts. The breakfast is so so. I
