"Great hotel with lots of activities for the kids. Gym was huge with lots of equipment and classes. We had a family suite which was huge with separate bedrooms for kids and adults. Only small let downs were the shower pressure being terrible, hotel was super hot even though it wasn’t a warm day, but the did provide us with fans. Breakfast had a great selection but gluten free options ran out quickly and weren’t replaced."

"Everything about The George was very good but it is obviously in the midst of much needed renovations. I felt very sad because I grew up in the area and it was always such a popular hotel. However, we enjoyed our stay and the staff were all very helpful. Dinner was good, despite having to wait quite a long time for it. Good luck to the owners for the future and hope that the renovations go well."

"Location was good, amenities very good, the offsite room was slightly small for our two suitcases. When they say that parking is limited they are not wrong but it is also quite difficult to get into with a slightly bigger cast - especially for Australians already struggling with the parking in the UK 🙂. However we were lucky to find parking near the offsite room. Hotel itself is lovely and the dinner and breakfast very good. Staff were excellent."

"Appleby Castle is a special destination, steeped in history that you can experience first hand. Staff care deeply about the castle and we thoroughly enjoyed the piano playing during the meal and the history talk after. Having read some of the other reviews, we can’t say we experienced any of the negatives and thought Peter, Sally (and chef!) did a great job it being just them running the castle."

"Parking enough for 12 spaces only. Parking a premium in the area. Breakfast was of decent standard. The room was quite large and the double bed was comfortable. Ran out of coke and lemonade at the bar. "
