The bar, and the outside seating area very comfortable and we enjoyed our drinks in the sunshine. Golf course, although we didn’t play looked in extremely good condition. A great break away. I booked the deluxe family room although didn’t really know what I was getting due to the lack of pictures online on any website. I would definitely return."

"The hotel is a typical old pub, the staff lovely and welcoming. The stairways and walls are dated, but the rooms are tidy, clean, comfortable and cosy. The full breakfast was beautiful. I enjoyed the stay and would definitely stay again. For your evening meal we went to the Caven Arms on the recommendation of the hotel/pub manager and that was delightful too. "

"We stayed in the Annex and it was beautiful and private. It was updated, bright and clean. However the bed and couch desperately need to be replaced. The couch was broken and hitting the floor and the bed was old and springy. Also, we got great recommendations for dinner, but once we decided to go eat we were informed by every single restaurant that we needed a reservation. That would have been good to note ahead of time since that seems to be well known in downtown Dumfries. I would still highly recommend this place."
