Gruphotel Conil Playa was our first ever Adults-only hotel experience and it was nice not having splashing, noisy kids at the pool for a change. This property is only 5-years old, super modern and airy, spacious with beautiful fish sculptures honoring the “Atún Rojo” (bluefin tuna) for which this region is famous. Our partial sea view room with balcony was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was better than any we’ve ever seen, including bottles of open Cava (Spanish bubbly) that can be paired with nearby orange juice for a Mimosa, if desired. Made to order omelette station or ready-made freshly fried eggs (instead of scrambled eggs under a hood). We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Snack Bar and a dip in one of their multiple pools and sun bathing. Our beach time was with friends in nearby Palmar, so we didn’t walk down the path (and stairs?) to the hotel’s nearby beach. This is a hotel and chain that we will gladly book again in our future travels!

The building and location are excellent. Speakers in the room are great. TV is fine. Wifi fine. Lighting in the bathroom was very nice. Welcome to the hotel was lacking. I had no idea whether I could eat the croissants and champagne in reception so didn’t. I booked the hotel thinking there was a pool, sauna and steam room. Upon arrival I was told they weren’t part of my booking (I didnt know this via hotels.com) so one day I booked the spa. The steam room was not working and the pool wasn’t large enough to swim in just to cool off. You have to book your spa usage in and use it privately whereas it would be better to use communally in the morning and evening like I would prefer. I think this is a cultural difference and spanish culture views spa exclusivity as the most relaxing part of the experience. Generally its an ok hotel in a great location but I’d rather have stayed in a hotel with a pool 5 minutes walk away but if a pool and spa isn’t important to you its a great hotel to choose. It just didnt feel as luxurious as other Aurea locations or Hospes locations.
