Rota is a town located in the province of Cádiz, in Andalusia. It’s surrounded by more than 9 miles of beaches, and it won't be easy to pick your favourite. If you’re in the mood to get your camera out and visit some monuments, head over to Castillo de Luna palace, declared a Site of Cultural Interest. Built in the 13th century, this castle with a rectangular floor plan and five towers was erected around a beautiful Gothic-style courtyard. It’s now home to the town hall. Your next stop should be church of Nuestra Señora de la O, a stone Gothic-Renaissance building built in the 16th century, which is now the main church in Rota.

Book your guided tour in advance and enjoy a day exploring the cottages of the farmers that is both fun and educational, as you learn all about this curious method of working the land.
Another natural attraction is the Rota fishing farms. These small plots of land near the shore date all the way back to the Roman era. At low tide, fish and molluscs are trapped here, making them easier to fish.
