"Perfect for a one night stay, comfortable and clean room and easy parking. Limited menu for evening meal but reasonably priced and tasty. It seemed a little odd not offering a breakfast but was not a problem for us as we went elsewhere. Would stay again if travelling to Scotland."

"We had a lovely family room - Ideal for the 4 of us. Parents had a 2 person room in the old building. My advice is to request a room in the new building if you prefer to avoid stairs - We were not aware of all the stairs and my parents found it difficult. This wouldn't stop us staying again - we would just request a ground floor room. Food was good. Parking was good. Most of the staff were excellent. Was in an excellent location for our needs."

Hope and Anchor Port Carlisle

"Despite retaining the old pub name, this is now a B&B only, so don't expect a bar or evening meals. The accommodation was good if a little quirky. Our bedroom had polished wood floors rather than carpet, but the beds were comfortable and the location was quiet. Breakfast (continental) is a help yourself arrangement and was fine. In our case, check in was done without the owner being onsite. He texted us the access codes. The bus stop for Carlisle was opposite the front door. We stayed one night while walking Hadrian's wall."
