Located in the heart of Paris, this bridge is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy views along the River Seine.

Admire the grand Institut de France and the magnificent Eiffel Tower and shop for stylish souvenirs as you stroll toward the iconic Pont des Arts. Sit on the benches and listen to street performers or bring a picnic and share a bottle of wine with your partner while the sun sets over the city of love.

The original Pont des Arts was the first iron bridge in Paris, built in the early 1800s. After surviving heavy bombardment in both world wars, the bridge almost collapsed in 1979 when it was hit by a barge. Fortunately it was restored a few years later with its nine metal arches replaced by seven new ones. Cross this wide footbridge on a 10-minute walk between the Louvre Museum and the Institut de France on opposite sides of the river.

Make your way across the wooden boardwalk and gaze down at the gently flowing Seine River. Look on as tour boats slowly glide by or spot your favourite landmarks among the busy skyline. You won’t miss the huge dome of the Institut de France and the Eiffel Tower that stands tall to the west. Shop for souvenirs in the stalls that set up on either side of the river and enjoy the lively performing artists.

For several years, lovers have attached personalized padlocks to the bridge railings as a symbol of their enduring love. However, the city was concerned with the dangerous added weight equivalent to 20 elephants and has replaced the metal railings with glass. Stand at this romantic spot and capture your love with a selfie photo instead of a padlock.

The Pont des Arts is located close to the centre of Paris. As evening sets in and the crowds disperse, relax at a neighbourhood café with a multi-course meal and glass of wine, watching the changing light on the river and listening to street artists playing classical violin.
