" Booked this property last minute, got on a flight down there, took a taxi to the property only to find out they canceled the reservation. I never received any notification and it took me contacting them to have them tell me they cancelled it. Here we stand, a family of 5 with no place to stay. Had to take a taxi back to the airport and get booked on the soonest flight back home. I would not recommend staying here, and Expedia was no help either, all they said was “sorry for the inconvenience”. "

Our first visit to Mexico and we thought we would try a trusted hotel chain. We were not disappointed. For those wanting great weather, pampering, a dose of nature and a good beach, the Banyan tree is the answer. The walk to the beach from the main hotel could be a little daunting for some, but we did it a coupe of times a day and really enjoyed the wonderful wildlife in the lagoons. Amazing stay in Playa del Carmen, checkin was fabulous with Luis (all staff were friendly and helpful), room was spacious, modern, spotlessly clean - hotel is quite new and very tastefully decorated. Petit Lafitt was perfect for what we wanted. We had toured Mexico City, Merida, Tulum and finally Playa Del Carmen.
