"Not the smartest hotel in the world but it makes up for this by the friendliness of the welcome with good sized clean and comfortable rooms that have an individuality not found in modern hotels. The barroom downstairs has a good selection of drinks and there are bar billiards tables. Just be aware there is no lift so stairs to rooms must be managed. After a good nights sleep breakfast awaits exactly as you ordered it"

"Lovely hotel and a great location , great breakfast buffet"

"Really enjoyable two night stay at this hotel . Staff were really friendly and welcoming . Room 12 was a great size with a large comfortable bed , great tea tray , toiletries and large soft towels . View from the window was the fields with plenty of chatter from the sheep . We ate at the pub both nights as the food was great quality . The pub is more of a restaurant than a drinking pub but you can sit near the bar or in the lovely outside area if you don’t want food . Only thing I would recommend is the pub puts frosted glass in the bathroom for privacy . We would like to visit again in the future ."

"The lodge rooms are superbly quiet with absolutely no road noise although friends staying in the main hotel were disturbed by traffic noise. Lodges are freshly decorated with great bathrooms and excellent daily housekeeping The continental breakfast had a good selection of fruit and yoghurt. The hot food was cooked to order which I much prefer to buffets. The full Welsh breakfast was quite a meagre portion with poor quality sausage, although the other choices such as poached eggs on brioche and cheese omelette with bacon were wonderful. The breakfast staff were exceptionally helpful and went out of their way provided a special order of porridge for a friend with an upset stomach. Overall this is probably the best option if you want a quiet stay and ample free parking on the edge of town within in a very short walking distance of the main busy areas of shops, pubs and restaurants. I didn’t try the hotel restaurant."

"This is a stunning property in a superb location. The common parts of the main building are just fabulous and worth exploring. Staff are just lovely. We were staying in Rhianfa Lodge within the hotel grounds and whilst the room was clean and comfortable, the TV had reception problems that the staff tried very hard to fix but it persisted. Breakfast was disappointing with rock hard inedible bacon and strange consistency to the scrambled eggs although the croissants and coffee were the best I've had in the UK. The only other issue was noise disturbance when other rooms ran showers or flushed loos."

"Great location, walking distance to the lake. There’s lots of food spots and shops nearby on the high street, the pub isn’t loud or crazy at night so we had a great nights sleep. Building is historic, so has that charm. On arrival one of the beds looked made up, but found lipstick on the pillow and hair in the bed. The staff were great at fixing this, even though he was busy in the bar restaurant. Breakfast was fantastic, full English - the lady who worked alone, she needs a raise, get her some young students to help her out serving. Thanks for a lovely stay!"
