Great Hotel to stay in York

Posted 27-Apr-2016
Relaxing location about 8 minutes Bus Ride from the town center and railway station and right on the racecourse. Excellent Buses every 4 mins and if over 60 you can use your Freedom Passes! Lovely swimming pool, Gym, Jacuzzi and kids pool. Excellent Breakfast Buffet.

Fantastic Hotel, friendly staff, lovely room

Posted 18-Apr-2016
Pros: Very impressed that a double double room could be booked. Great breakfast, very fresh and omelettes, pancakes and fried eggs made to order.
Cons: Cleaner fridge in the room with maybe some bottled water available? Not too much room for improvement- very impressed with the hotel!
Location: Very close proximity to the racecourse, a bit of a walk to the city centre but only about £7.50 in a taxi to the centre of town.
Stayed in this hotel with friends for a trip to the theatre. Fantastic room quality, very friendly and helpful staff and overall great hotel. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was superb quality with everything very fresh.

Not as good as a Marriott should be

Posted 12-Apr-2016
Pros: Position. Free parking. Room. Breakfasts.
Cons: Consistency of quality & service in the restaurant. A bigger pool, with swimming lanes, would be good.
Location: Plenty of opportunities for sightseeing, historical tours & shopping.
My wife & I had a 3 night stay at this hotel near York racecourse as part of my birthday celebrations. The room was good, with great views of the course & away from the busy road at the front. We had arranged to meet friends at the hotel on the Tuesday evening, so we tried the restaurant on Monday & had a good meal. However, the following evening, with our friends as our guests, the meal was a nightmare: service was very slow & we complained several times about delays; then when the main courses arrived two of the meals were not as described by the menu & were badly cooked, such that the meat was impossible to cut & eat. We complained to restaurant staff, coincidentally, just as some other diners were also complaining about the quality of their meals. We also complained to the duty manager, who acknowledged problems but did nothing more. Basically, our evening was completely ruined. The other, lesser, problem that we had was the fact that the pool at the hotel is too small & was always crowded whenever my wife wanted to swim.

Good hotel, a nice walk to centre of York.

Posted 10-Apr-2016
Pros: The location is perfect, the pool and facilities are good. The rooms are very clean with crisp linen and super comfy beds.
Cons: At breakfast there needed to be more staff on duty during the busiest period, tables were vacant but needed resetting and the manager did it himself.
Location: Perfect location, in beautiful setting with stunning views of racecourse. 20 mins walk into York. Try Delrios restaurant, the food is delicious.
One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in as a family, the facilities are good and the rooms are very clean. Comfy beds and everything you could imagine for breakfast, as well as a lovely pool and steam room make this the perfect place to relax. We were made to feel very welcome at check in and the sweets for the children were a lovely gesture.

Ok hotel poor service

Posted 04-Apr-2016
Booked room service for myself and my 6 year old son at6:30 pm chased it up an hour later , only to discover josh , our room service contact ,had forgotten to put the order through, saying they were busy. He then ( mistakenly) informed the manager I no longer required food . Eventually food arrived ( compliments of the hotel) dry with burnt yet soggy chips ... Very poor given my son had been looking forward to getting room service all week ... Think he will give it a miss next time

Great all round.

Definitely a great hotel, brilliant location just 4 stops on the bus into York. The number 4 bus stop right outside the hotel. Ample parking is provided. Large rooms with very comfortable bed, large bathroom with great water pressure in the shower. Plenty of tea and coffee on the refreshments tray. Great wifi signal. The staff are very friendly always smart and polite. The facilities looked great. Overall fantastic.
