30 minute walk from the centre

Posted 24-Mar-2017
Our first room was very noisy (116) had to move as woke us up at 5.15am, theres a big extract fan outside the window for the kitchen. Don't stay in this room unless your deaf! They did move us to a nice quite room without hassle

Great location for those looking to be near the race track. A little far from town. Family friendly!

Good location for Yor,

Posted 20-Mar-2017
Pros: Polite staff, cleanliness of the hotel
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: Excellent location for York sightseeing, plenty to do all in easy walking distance
Came away for my 60th Birthday to see the sights of York, wanted it to be Special so selected a first class hotel which the Marriott proved to be.

No free wifi. Should be standard at that price. To me, this was unacceptable and therefore we would not stay again. £30 extra to use our phones?? No!

lovely stay

Posted 17-Mar-2017
Pros: loved the spa and sauna, plenty to choose from for breakfast and ALL THE STAFF were very friendly and helpful
Cons: Didn't use the dining room for meals at night as they were very expensive.
Location: York Minster was only 5 mins away with everything else central to it so a great location and the information centre also there to buy your York pass.
Enjoyed our short break here which was for my 60th birthday, clean, friendly, and lovely breakfast. Plenty to do in York and buying the York pass for our four day stay was definitely a bonus. We had a problem with the fridge in our room on arrival and within 30 minutes a new one was brought to us so excellent service. Would definitely recommend, disappointed the York races hadn't started as our room looked right onto the race course but we did have a little walk around it.

Handy situation just outside York city

Posted 13-Mar-2017
We found the hotel pleasant with a nice spacious room. Staff very helpful and friendly- the food was reasonable and the hotel is situated within easy reach of the city by taxi in 5 minutes.

2 years ago was much better

Posted 10-Mar-2017
Pros: Not a lot on this stay which was disappointing.
Cons: Please put some bottled water in the room.
I stayed 2 years ago and had a luxurious stay, amazinfg room and comfy bed. I was keen to go back despite most of my other colleagues staying at the Park Hotel. As as a single female traveller I was surprised to be put in Room 920 right at the back of the hote, window faced what looked like a wall and path and I really didn't feel safe. I requested a move and went to room 112 where the quilt cover was ripped and the quilt itself was a thin as a sheet!

Family friendly on the boundary of the race course

Posted 06-Mar-2017
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff, close to the main attractions
Cons: Just the beds really -not the comfiest
Location: Next to the racecourse and a short distance from all that York offers
We enjoyed a weekend at this hotel, checking in on Saturday, enjoying the pool, sauna, steam room etc. Later sitting in the bar followed by some relaxed food in the bar. A very relaxing time was had by all including our 13 and 11 year olds. The beds were not the comfiest would be my only slight issue, but overall very pleasing stay.

Nice hotel on the outskirts of York.

Posted 01-Mar-2017
Pros: The whole environment generally. Nice rooms. Decent facilities. Breakfast.
Cons: Food is too expensive and nothing special (with the exception of breakfast). Drinks machine in the bar cannot warm hot drinks sufficiently.
Location: Great for York racecourse, but a little too far out from the City Centre to walk in. Outlet village nearby is good for shopping and has nice food area
Regularly stay at this hotel as I am a fan of Marriotts. Room was nice and not too expensive. Breakfast was included and was lovely (especially the large cup of hot chocolate and the omblettes). Bar snacks were expensive but generally OK. Only problem was that they were unable to make 'hot' hot chocolate, despite it being returned. Decent gym but just watch when you go as it is packed around 16:50 for example. I prefer later in the evening when you always have room. Would be good to see the gym staff in the gym occasionally to offer help but I have never seen that in all my (many) visits. Gym reception staff very polite though. Rooms are nice although our bathroom had no heating and with an outside window was really cold (in February). Reception staff nice at check-in and when leaving. It is a little too far for most people to walk into York centre, so prepare for a taxi ride if you don't have a car (or to save finding a car park!
