Next to Racecourse

Posted 30-Aug-2016
Pros: Breakfast and location
Cons: Fridge didn't work. Room needed to be bigger for the money it cost.
Location: 20 mins walk to York. On the Racecourse. Really nice. Minster, Clifford's Tower and Boat Trip all recommended.
Decent hotel, not cheap. Hotel slightly tired. Our room pretty small for 150 quid. Good breakfasts.

Lovely hotel which backs onto the race course

Posted 28-Aug-2016
Pros: Everything....apart from the coffee!!
We stayed in a deluxe double room for one night. Beds were really comfortable. The room was light and airy, very clean. Toiletries and lovely towels were provided in the bathroom. There was a kettle and coffee/tea making facilities and a fridge. It is a large hotel and breakfast was quite busy. There were plenty of food options to suit everyone, including gluten free if you asked for it. Would book again if needed to stay in the area.

nice hotel, disappointed on our room change.

Posted 24-Aug-2016
Pros: Nice staff, nice pool area, clean room, good location
Location: 10 min bus ride into York town centre and the bus stop is just over the road. Cheaper than paying parking if you get a return ticket, £7.60 for 4
We had a one night stay here and overall was good and staff were nice, however the original room we were given was big and spacious but the interlinking door was locked and for some reason could not be opened. We were moved to another room which was less impressive and didnt feel like for like. We expressed our disappointed and got two free drinks, even though there were 4 of us! I would stay here again but only if it was a deal i found.

Tired hotel in most areas

Posted 23-Aug-2016
Pros: The location Free car parking
Cons: Deco is very tired. Windows appeared dirty on first day but ok on second. Free wi-fi is a must. The fridge was empty, no drinks or snacks.
Location: Ideal for the races as you can walk across the course but if it was raining you would need a taxi all the way round.
We booked months in advance for York Ebor races so the location was ideal. Having stayed in this hotel many years ago when it was called The Chase Hotel we expected the same or better. Our room at a cost or £450 for two nights B & B was very disappointing. Tired deco, very tiny bathroom, poor air conditioning and no little touches like a bottle of water, a light in bathroom for shaving or free wi-fi. Indeed the wi-fi came at a cost of £15 per night. The breakfast was well presented and a fair choice but having tried a full english on the first day I found it very average. Maybe we were in an old part of the hotel and other rooms are better?

Standard hotel, handy location.

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: Pleasant enough
Cons: The hotel was fine but I wouldn't stay for a special occasion.
Location: 30 min walk for centre.
The hotel is a 30 min walk from York city centre. It's a pleasant enough walk and taxi's are cheap if you decide to take one. Hotel was ok and nice enough. Stayed with a group of friends so nice to be able to have 4 adults in a room and be comfortable. Also had a fridge in the room which would be ideal for families. The pool was really quite nice and the breakfast was good.

Good location shame about the décor in the rooms

Posted 01-Aug-2016
Pros: Good location, breakfast good and staff were polite and friendly
Cons: decor in the rooms needs updating and modernising
Location: Very easy walk in to the centre of York. We visited the Castle Museum, only £10 each well worth a visit, we also walked the castle walls, very enjoyab
Booked the Marriot York for a weekend break in York. Great location in easy walking distance to the town. However when you stay in a hotel and pay a lot of money you expect it to be nicer than your own home. The décor in the room looked like it was from the 1990's, not in keeping with todays trends. Wall paper was slightly torn and skirting boards were scuffed, the room looked tired. Not very pleased about mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and there was chip on the front of the toilet seat, how much does it cost for a new loo seat!. I have to admit that I will not be going back unless they update the hotel. On the positive side the breakfast was good, help yourself and the staff were very polite and friendly.
