Smart and friendly hotel.

Friendly staff, lovely views from back of hotel over race course. Only downside was that the rooms were far to hot. Aircoolant system seemed ineffective. Very nice hotel though.

A short bus ride to the centre of York.

Posted 04-Jun-2017
Pros: Beautifully kept and clean. Very relaxing.
Location: Railway museum,York Minster, Jorvic Viking Centre, Treasurers House, the Shambles and more to see
A very nice hotel backing onto the racecourse in York. Beautiful gardens to sit in and plenty of parking. All the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed..plenty of space, plenty of cupboard space ,a good sized bathroom, bed was comfy, tea and coffe making facilities...even a fridge! The restaurant was spacious and a good choice for breakfast, a good evening meal menu and there is a great all day menu if you require anything throughout the day. A gym and swimming pool are available to use. Function rooms and wedding also catered for.

Good hotel and facilities, friendly staff

Posted 31-May-2017
Arrived on Sunday 11 in the morning to find a gang of men drinking pints of lager on the patio and one of them throwing up the previous nights beer 20 yards from the front entrance! For the sake of the majority of the guests and the reputation of the hotel that it stops taking stag and hen bookings.

Disappointing

Posted 17-May-2017
Hotel on good bus route into the city. Sunny decking and garden over looking the race track. Breakfast good. Dinner waitress unfriendly and served without a smile. Our room smelled of cigarettes! There was an adjoining door through which we could clearly hear our neighbours.

Nice hotel conveniently situated close to York.

Posted 15-May-2017
Pros: A good location, convenient for the centre. Pleasant room, friendly staff.
Cons: Maintaining a clear dress code for the restaurant.
Location: The Minster is a must, also the railway museum, free! Jorvik very good. Walk the walls.
With limited and expensive parking in York centre, free parking at the hotel and an excellent bus service were much appreciated. The room was pleasant, comfortable and clean. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good although spoiled by a number of young women being allowed to take breakfast in their night clothes. The hotel should decide if it is in the market for tacky hen parties or offer facilities where reasonable standards are maintained. We, and many others in our party found the acceptance of such reduced standards offensive. We have never encountered similar issues in previous stays with other Marriott hotels either in U.K. or USA.
