Great location, comfortable clean rooms. Host was extremely helpful giving advice on local area/things to do/find as we had never been to Scarborough before. Vegetarian/specialist diet was well catered for here too. Overall a lovely few days away and beaches are good as well.
Close to York park and ride and quiet roads to get there. Nice sized room and well equipped. Good breakfast and lots of good parking spaces. Would stay again.
We ate out for dinner so cannot comment on that, but the breakfasts were very good, with plenty of choice.
Nice hotel within walking distance from a majority of York's sightseeing attractions. the staff were friendly and the room was clean. The only downside was our room was tiny. Barely enough room to get around the bed and hardly any room to open our suitcases.
Fantastic hotel. Quaint and stylish. Don’t understand why it’s not a higher star rating. Room was comfortable and very clean. Staff couldn’t do enough to help. Highly recommended
If you've stayed in hotels in traditional British seaside resorts, you've probably stayed in something like the Crown Spa, built in the C19 and retaining most of the original features, both good and bad. Its location is perfect if you want to step out of the hotel front door, breathe in the sea air ...
Absolutely stunning hotel room! I could see York Minister from directly outside the window! The room was beautiful and had everything you could need. The staff were very friendly and the hotel is exactly in the centre of York. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Absolutely beautiful!
North Yorkshire is without doubt one of the most spectacularly beautiful places in the world. The county is peppered with gorgeous National Parks, spanning rolling hills, mysterious moors and idyllic coastline. With so much stunning nature on offer nearby, it's no surprise that hotels in North Yorkshire have a strong environmental conscience. Green-minded holidaymakers have nothing to fear, as there's an abundance of exquisite green and sustainable hotels in North Yorkshire.
Macdonald Gisborough Hall sets the standard high for North Yorkshire hotels when it comes to green credentials. The hotel is one of the most environmentally friendly in the country, and has a number of green tourism awards to prove it. The hotel has been granted A Gold award for Green Tourism, a Greener Path Landfill Diversion Award and a Carbon Trust Standard Sticker, to name but a few.
The hotel achieves these awards as a result of sticking to a strict list of rules for operation. The sustainability initiative dictates everything from the use of low energy lightbulbs to responsible waste management.
One of the simplest ways for a hotel to keep their carbon footprint to a minimum is to make use of local products wherever possible. With an abundance of fertile farmland across North Yorkshire, it makes sense for this philosophy to be enacted on the menus of hotel restaurants.
The Traddock is a five-star luxury inn located in the tiny village of Austwick. The inn's menu features plenty of local produce, meaning guests can tuck into this delicious food without worrying about how far it's come to reach the plate.
Once upon a time, environmental responsibility was akin to compromise. Having a small carbon footprint meant going without certain things. Today, this is no longer the case. Modern hotels can provide exquisite and luxurious facilities while keeping energy consumption impressively low.
The Aldwark Manor Golf and Spa Hotel is a fine example of the incredible range of facilities on offer from green and sustainable hotels in North Yorkshire. Alongside its Silver Award for Green Tourism, the four-star hotel boasts a golf course, sauna and health club.
