"My husband and I really loved this hotel. The room was spacious and clean and well appointed. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. During the first night we were on the first level and it was a Saturday night and obviously noisy. I asked if we could move to a higher floor and they not only allowed that but moved all of our luggage for us while we were on a tour. In addition, the hotel manager provided us with a charcuterie board and a bottle of red wine to apologize for the noise levels. We were so impressed to get this level of service and care. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel all three days as we were so happy with the quality of the food. The dinner restaurant is open to all and could see why many of those eating at the restaurant or not customers of the hotel. Service at the restaurant was prompt and super friendly always. The hotel is very conveniently situated, a few hundred metres away from the Santa Justa lift. And many other of the attractions in the Lisbon area. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would come back when we are next in Lisbon."

"Locke de Santa Joana is a quirky, unique, and very enjoyable place to stay. Built in a beautifully converted monastery, the property still retains many of its original architectural features, which gives it a lot of character and makes it feel very different from a typical hotel. Our room was comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and had an excellent bed—we slept very well. We also loved how completely dark the room became at night. The layout of Building D was a little confusing at first, particularly with the negative floor numbers and the top floor being labeled “0,” which is very unfamiliar to Americans, but once we figured it out, it was fine. The food on the property was excellent. We enjoyed both the breakfast and the small outdoor café. The staff was friendly and helpful, although we did handle our own luggage. The location was also very convenient for the sightseeing we wanted to do around Lisbon. This is not a traditional luxury hotel, but it doesn’t try to be. It is stylish, comfortable, distinctive, and an excellent property for what it is. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return."

"I like the nearest points of interest in Alfama. For cruisers, it's just a few steps away from the port. The rooms are small, basic, but clean. The staff is helpful with any inquiry you need. Breakfast is basic. They don't serve a Portuguese meal. It just caters to the Western style of eggs, bacon, and sausages. The Balcony view, you will see the terrace square of the hotel."

"Great location in a busy area, but quiet in the rooms. Large well appointed bathrooms, but small bedrooms, however there were larger options we didn’t upgrade to. The restaurant had excellent food and the drink options were great! Staff was always pleasant and spoke multiple languages."
