Pros: The hotel is nice if they remember to book your room
Landed late Wednesday night and had to leave again 4am next day. Chose Ole Sereni because of comfort to airport. So having to spend an additional hour shifting hotel to a porrer standard was not convenient. Could have taken a hotel in town instead and slept longer and with no hassle.

Nice hotel with a nice view. Good staff, very organised. Didn't feel like a city hotel, felt like we were in a national park.

im Großen und Ganzen sehr gut

Posted 10-Aug-2016

a great place for an overnight at the airport

Much better short stay hotel than EKA and less expensive. The staff is excellent and it overlooks Nairobi National Park. So you can spend this last few hours on the veranda with a cold beer squinting to see giraffe and zebra.

Great option near the airport

Relaxing stay in between flights - close to the airport, bathtub to relax, good TV channels, great pizza via room service, and comfortable bed.

Beware the disco

Posted 27-May-2016 on Hotels
There is a disco on the 4th floor every Friday night lasting until at least midnight. Guest rooms are only a few feet away. The hotel doesn't seem to really care that its guests can't sleep. If the hotel would concentrate on just being a hotel it would be fine. But it's trying to be a hip spot in Nairobi, and hotel guests are the losers.

Ole Sereni

Posted 28-Mar-2016 on Hotels
We stayed at Ole Sereni for a 14 hour layover needing security, relative closeness to the airport, airport transfer, and a sound sleep before heading out the following afternoon. Ole Sereni is a beautiful complex with 3 dining options which met all of our needs which included a semi-spacious room (might be a tad small for some). The disappointing part was the view from our room was the city/highway side which is very dusty and loud when the door was open - it seems that the more expensive rooms get the national park side which is beautiful. There is also a lot of construction around the area that we know Ole cannot be held accountable for. The seafood buffet (that night) was very good at the Big Five restaurant, maybe slightly on the higher side for the variety, but still very good and the patio is a great place to hang out and drink for a night. We ended up only using the airport transfer for one way and it's about double the price of a regular taxi to/from the airport (15 min drive or so) which we used mostly for convenience. Overall, Ole Sereni was a fantastic experience which we desperately needed after 10 days in the bush - we only wished we could afford to stay longer!

Area's for improvement

Posted 22-Mar-2016 on Hotels
The Hotel is one of the closer ones to the Airport so saved the drive through Nairobi's notorious bad traffic into the City centre. The Hotel overlooks the game park (odd deer and lots of bush to look at) so their isn't much local neighbourhood apart from gas stations, banks and businesses. The Hotel is quite modern. The 'public' areas are well laid out and spacious with choices of restaurants and bars, including one serving 24 hours a day. The bedroom I received was surprisingly small (City view side) and whilst of good quality was poor value for price and given that when you book they show many pictures of a spacious room which is clearly not the one you get! The food was "OK", nothing special, paying $130 for a meal for three (only soft drinks). The service in the Eagles Restaurant though was quite atrocious, we frequently had to repeatedly ask the waiter for things, including the bill. Understandable perhaps if the place was busy, but it wasn't. Reception service and concierge was good, otherwise it would have been easy to give the Hotel a poor rating.
