"Room was clean and updated and staff were very friendly. Two of the elevators weren’t working reliably and there was no in room coffee or fridge (had to request a fridge I think) but it was great for business travel "

"The Empire is my favorite hotel in New York. It's a grand dame, so not new and spiffy, but the rooms are well-maintained and I find the bedding terric. In New York, the Empire is a bargain, but it's so much more. The location is outstanding at Lincoln Center surrounded by restaurants and cultural institutions, and it's on the #1 subway. Taxis and Ubers also very easily available. I don't worry about not having a coffee maker in the room. There is a Starbucks a few steps from the front door; a great bakery (Breads) across the street (Broadway), and additional options up and down Broadway. People, you're in New York! I love the free bottles of water. Pasquale at the front desk has been especially kind, but all the front desk staff and doormen seem extremely helpful."

"Definitely more of a place for business people. They had staff standing around when we went to use the table in the lobby to eat. Waited til we had our food out to tell us we can’t eat there. Standard One queen bed room was very small and had no fridge or microwave. Furnishings were outdated. Mattress was terrible, felt like an old box spring. Slept terrible. For the price not worth it. Looks like they spent more money on the lobby. One plus they did have live music."

"We had a wonderful stay!! We loved the fact we had a room that accommodated our family. Our boys had their own space and as parents we had ours. Staff were super nice and helpful. We love the location!!!! We hope to come Back and visit soon!!! 🤗"

"The hotel is excellently located, above the yellow subway lines and close to Central Park. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and generally well maintained. However, the air conditioning is unacceptable, and in the New York heat it becomes unbearable, it is simply not possible to stay or sleep in the room. There is no minibar, a basic amenity, which makes it difficult to manage even basic needs such as having cold drinking water. There is no provision of drinking water and no service that supports the room or the overall stay. I would also note that the staff is not welcoming, and the lobby and its service feel more like an information desk at Grand Central than a hotel. All of this comes at excessively high prices, comparable to a five star hotel, while in reality it barely deserves 2.5 stars. Not recommended."

"I had no problem with my stay other than the fact that at any given time only half or fewer of the elevators were in working order, so there was often a large bottleneck of people waiting to get onto one of the working elevators. At one point I had to wait 20 minutes to finally get up to my room to grab something, and another 15 minutes to get back down. Inefficient and frustrating."
