"great location , quiet and relaxing"
This is a great location, very close to Front street and many restaurants? Only one block away from the famous Banyon tree. Many people tend to prefer the bigger named high rises along Kanapalli Beach but for us this allowed us to walk every where! The unit we had was a two bedroom, two bathroom unit which we shared with friends. Two very nice pool area as. Very lush grounds. Gave us the feeling of being in a treehouse even though we were only on the second floor. Good kitchen and two nice bedrooms. A few small flies in bathroom and kitchen but this is to be expected because of the lush vegetation everywhere. Staff were quick to spray when we asked. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back and stay again if we come back to Maui!

"Lovely hotel right on beach."
Great location. Hotel currently under renovations but once finished will be great. We had an unrenovated room which is in need of upgrading but it was still good. Rooms are kept very clean. If you can afford it it would definitely be worth upgrading to an ocean view but back rooms are still nice with good balconies.

"Nice hotel on the beach"
Overall the hotel was great - beautiful beach and well situated to get to everything. Clean, well-kept and a lovely pool/hot tub. Only complaints would be: 1. The daily Jazzercise class that took place in the pool every morning at 7:15am set to a tape playing on a boom box that could be heard in our unit. 2. The traffic noise from the highway beside was a little loud in our unit as the back bedroom faced the road. Other than that, all good.

"For whatever reason, the above ratings are not wor"
I asked for a bottom unit as I rented this for a family with 5 children. They were put in the 3rd floor unit "as there are no guarantees that you will get what you ask for" so beware. The unit was "homey" (renter's words) and had lots of swim equipment in a box on the patio which was nice. We ended up putting 2 adult couples in this unit instead (we were there as a huge family gathering) as the walkway to the unit was 3 stories up with an iron railing looking over a center garden area which was very nice but totally inappropriate for the little kids that were supposed to be staying there. The view was beautiful! The hotel has signs up as being absolutely non-smoking but the front desk area wreaked of cigs so obviously the staff never got the no smoking message. They were less than helpful, but we didn't have to deal with them much anyway.

"2 bedroom suite near the beach "
Large two bedroom suite with lots of windows and access to a huge deck with partial ocean view. Nice modern kitchen but didn't have all the essentials you would expect for a property like this. The bathrooms were nice each featuring separate showers and tubs and acceptably sized vanities. The property is beautiful and it appears that new carpet and paint was applied in the halls. Very very nice overall

"Relaxing vacation"
We had a great time at the Palms at Wailea. Our view from our patio was suppose to be a garden view, but we were surprised when we has a nice view of the ocean also.

Pocket Guide: Apartment Hotels in Maui Island

    Maui Island Accommodation: Apartment Hotels

Apartment hotels offer self-catering accommodation in some of the best spots on Maui Island. Mostly three- and four-star hotels, the apartments have kitchen facilities and more space than a standard hotel room. You can look forward to all the modern conveniences you need for a comfortable night’s stay, from free WiFi and TVs to private lanais.

Some apartment hotels provide a continental breakfast to help set you up for the day. And after a day hiking around Maui Island, you can unwind in your apart-hotel spa facilities. Finish off your day at one of your apart-hotels barbecue grills either cooking up fish you’ve caught on a game-fishing trip from Lahaina Harbor or something you picked up at Maui’s Fresh Produce Farmer’s Market in Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center.

Stay in an Apartment Hotel on Maui Island

Choose an apartment hotel around Kihei to be within easy reach of the many pleasure-boat trips leaving Maalaea Harbor. Staying here also places the sugar-white beaches and manicured golf courses of Wailea just a short drive away.

Lahaina in West Maui is popular with surfers, snorkelers and swimmers. Once a busy whaling port, the small town of Lahaina is now also the place to go for whale-watching tours and pottering around historic streets.

Head further up the coast to Kapalua to tee off at the award-winning Plantation Golf Course, which hosts the annual Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

Exploring Maui Island from your Apart-Hotel

The best way to explore Maui Island is by hiring a car. Take the drive down the Road to Hana Highway to see some of Maui’s most secluded waterfalls and picturesque seascapes. This popular road trip leads to the small town of Hana, an undeveloped area and the best place to experience traditional island life.

    Maui Island’s Best Hikes

For a challenging hike, head to the Haleakala National Park and follow the trail that leads up to the top of Haleakala volcano. But if you’d like something more sedate, there are plenty of hikes that snake through the park’s lush rainforest.

A stay in one of Maui Island’s apart-hotels gives you the freedom to explore island life, giving you the best of both hotel and self-catering worlds.
