Clean tidy good position great for transportation or for walking
Very clean room with modern decor. Great complimentary breakfast!!!
Hotel was a short walk to an awesome sunset view. It also has excellent breakfast buffet and breakfast views from the top floor. It was a bit of distance from the train station but I guess one could have taken bus too.
The Avalon Hotel in Gothenburg is my idea of the perfect boutique hotel. Centrally located, the hotel is right across from the Saluhallen, the food hall. The street is lined with shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is brimming with vibrant art in the lobby and hallways. Our room was spacious ...
Very convenient location being in the train station. The breakfast buffet was great. Many choices.
Friendly, courteous staff, very attentive and helpful, great tasty breakfast, comfy rooms
Room was spacious and up to date. Received a room on the side of the tram and canal when asking for a quiet room. By the train station can be loud. We were only on the 2nd floor but windows were very good and little noise came though. Bathroom had separate tub and show which were nice. Very large ...
We were fortunate to receive an upgrade to a junior suite, which was nice. The spa was lovely, and had some interesting water treatments that all spa visitors could access. The staff in the spa were a little rude.
If you’re interested in Gothenburg’s seafaring heritage and nautical history in general, you’ll love the Maritima Museum, which comprises a fleet of ships floating on the waters of Gothenburg. The museum’s unique location, on board 15 decommissioned vessels, makes it feel uniquely connected to the sea. Stand at the prow of a warship or pace the corridors of a submarine in an attraction with a difference.
Look for accommodation along the Gothenburg waterfront to find a hotel near the Maritima Museum. Gothenburg has accommodation options to suit every kind of traveller – you can pick great-value hotels that face the harbour or choose an elegant modern property in the area around the station. Splurge on a luxurious hotel in the city centre and you’ll be just a short walk from the Maritima Museum as well as several other high-profile Gothenburg attractions.
Many of the craft in the Maritima Museum fleet are highly unusual. Climb aboard Fladen, a ship from 1915 that was used as a floating lighthouse, and find interactive exhibits documenting its history. Discover the various uses of towboats and cargo ships or wander the decks of Kalmarsund, a ship used for laying mines. Audio guides for the museum are available on smartphones.
Children will love visiting the different ships of the Maritima Museum, and enjoy following the journey of a sailor heading out to sea. Take them to the officer’s mess of the HMS Småland, a naval destroyer, or watch water cannons on the fire-fighting boat Flodsprutan II. Helping kids to learn is Virvelina, the Maritima mascot who runs treasure hunts and knotting lessons on board the vessels. Download the Maritima Museum’s Virvelina app to discover different ways to explore.
This unique museum allows you to step onto real former working vessels and discover a world of seafaring above and below the waves. With so many different ships and exhibits to see, you’ll want to make repeat trips – so choose a hotel near the Maritima Museum and explore at leisure.
