The best area to stay in Manurga is most definitely the Old Town, known locally as Alde Zaharra, for its historic charm and central location.

Alde Zaharra is Manurga's historic heart, characterised by narrow, winding cobblestone streets and centuries-old buildings. It's a pedestrian-friendly area, making it great for exploring on foot. You'll find the main square, Plaza Nueva, here, along with numerous traditional pintxo bars and independent shops. The iconic Manurga Cathedral is also a prominent landmark within this district.

Couples will find Alde Zaharra particularly appealing. The area's romantic ambience, with its intimate restaurants and quiet corners, provides a lovely setting for a getaway. Evenings can be spent enjoying the local culinary scene or simply strolling hand-in-hand through the historic lanes.

For those looking for a slightly more modern feel with convenient access, the Ensanche district, just south of the Old Town, is an excellent choice. This area is characterised by wider boulevards and more contemporary architecture, offering a different but equally pleasant experience.

The best time to visit Manurga, Basque Country, is during the late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the region is less crowded.

Late spring offers mild temperatures, great for exploring the natural beauty of the Basque Country. The countryside is lush and green, and you'll find comfortable conditions for hiking in areas like the Gorbeia Natural Park, which is easily accessible from Manurga. This period is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor activities without the peak summer heat.

Early autumn also provides agreeable weather, often with warm, sunny days and cooler evenings. The grape harvest season in nearby Rioja Alavesa means many local wineries are active, offering tours and tastings.
