"Very close to town and transport options for sightseeing. It was the cheapest accommodation after hostels, so budget-wise it's good. Shower wasn't draining and staff had it sorted the next day."

"Beautiful gardens, the room was not in the big historic home but an added on building to the side. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious in the restaurant. The only problem was the room was very hot and it made sleep difficult. This was with a fan on and the window open as far as it could be opened. I would return but only in cold months"

"Smith Place Hotel is located in a central location on Leith Walk about 15 minutes to either Leith or the city centre. When the tram is running, the stop is only about 3 minutes walk away, same with the bus stop which makes it easy to travel around across Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and helpful, and a pleasure to talk to. The hotel itself provides free water, tables and chairs in a central common area that can be accessed by anyone and is quite comfortable if you just want to sit and eat. The room itself doesn't have windows at all, but there is a skylight covered with a blind to provide some light which can feel a bit weird at first. It was quiet, clean and comfortable to sleep for a few nights but can feel a bit cramped if you have a lot of luggage."

"Good small hotel. Our family stayed here for the second time; the staff is friendly and attentive. The swimming pool is nice. Now it has a better breakfast and good coffee. The bed is the best size, and the bedding is great because there are 4 pillows. Thank you for a wonderful time. "
