"Been going to Dundee Apex for many years, and it is a handy hotel for a night away for tired parents in need of time away from the chaos of balancing kids home and work. The main reason why we stay at this place is the swimming pool and sauna. We stayed in the middle of April but it was very busy - it was almost impossible to swim without bumping into people. This was after waiting for 30 min till the space became available, but it seems that a few people just ignored the queue and walked in (not that it was the staff’s fault but perhaps needs tighter management). The pool, the general look of the place suggests that it is perhaps time for a refurbishment and it is looking rather tired in places. The water was very white and cloudy and it was really had to see where I was going while swimming. As I sat in the sauna, I found it hard to bear the foul language from people who jumped the queue (from what I overheard they were members for the leisure facility). Every second word was a swear word. It wasn’t exactly a relaxing time that I hoped for. The bar seems under staffed and it was very hard to get someone to come and get an order for a very long time and as for settling the bill, I ended up walking into the restaurant area that was now being tidied up to get someone. The refreshment drink near the reception wasn’t replenished so nothing in the dispenser… it just felt like the management gave up trying. It is such a shame."

"Great central location. Staff from reception to breakfast were helpful and friendly. Shout out for Luke who made a fantastic first impression when we checked in. We had a corner room which was very spacious. The hotel was extremely well maintained in all area. The gym was a bonus and well equipped. All in all a very good experience, would definitely use again when visiting Dundee "

"I cannot recommend this place enough. My husband and I booked on a whim to be close to St Andrews without St Andrews prices. Upon first glance my husband thought I was crazy, he assumed it would be run down, and not offer much because it was not in the city center. He sure changed his tune on that once we checked in. The room was so spacious and beautifully updated while retaining a bit of historic feel. The quant and cosy “Hayloft Room” was perfect. The garden bathtub was such an amazing surprise and big enough to fit even a large gentleman. Not something my husband is used to finding. The all in one duty manager Debbie was sweet and accommodating. She worked so hard in every aspect to ensure a pleasant stay for all the guests. The chef behind the scenes is a hidden gem. I truly had the best meal I’ve ever eaten. The Inspire Chicken. My husband had the Haddock Mornay and loved his just as much. Generous portions, cold drinks, and hot delicious coffee. If I had known about this place I would have planned more nights in the area. I cannot wait for breakfast. Ps. I promise I do not work here and am in no way affiliated with this Inn. "First impression was the hotel looked very nice and upmarket Gym pool facilities was really Food was absolutely terrible haddock for a starter was uneditable due to over fried and dripping of grease Piri chicken burger was good but was really spicy and the chip were horrible tasting The room was looked good but there was a smell of damp One of the beds was broken and the other side of the smelled of what I can only describe as bad feet I tried talking to the guy at reception but made out he couldn’t understand me Very poor experience Room 136"
