"This a great option for travellers in the Lanark area. Just as ideal for business and holiday. It’s cosy warm and has all you need in a VRBO. It is kept super clean. The high street outside has all the shops just a short walk away. The road outside can be a bit noisy during the day but it is quiet at night. The owner is very responsive and attentive to whatever you need. I love this place. "

The cabin is beautifully designed, cozy, and surrounded by peaceful nature—ideal for unwinding after a busy day. Joanne, the hostess, was phenomenal: warm, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience feel effortless and relaxing. Each evening, I took walks through the surrounding area, which was tranquil and scenic—a perfect way to disconnect and recharge. The neighbours, Mr. Darcy and Jimmy, were an unexpected delight and added so much charm to the stay. Their friendly presence made the experience feel even more special. This place is a true gem, whether you’re visiting for work, rest, or a bit of both. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat and will definitely be returning. "Warm and cozy sleeping with the shutters and curtains drawn. Respect the house, switch on the pump if you light the fire, and yes I loved the wood smoke smells, it is mostly round the fire, if the fire is only embers you can switch off the pump, it's circulating the hot water from the fire, I was able to see local interests and the wonderful fresh air, excellent countryside. The ruin of Carmicheal House makes me wonder at its one time beauty, and it's just a short walk to from the cottage, highly recommend the farm shop, truly lovely experience. "
