"The hotel location is fantastic, very peaceful, with well kept and beautiful grounds. Food is excellent, staff and service equally so. Whilst the rooms are basic ours was very clean and the swim up pool, whilst shared with two other rooms, felt private. We had a wonderful ten days all inclusive, which was excellent value. We'd 100% return! Not a place to go if you're bothered about watching television 🙂"

"Nice pool , good breakfast, quiet location. Helpful managers, excellent restaurant on site Our room #128: shower head clogged-had to use hand held. Slow drain and small shower cubicle wirh no curtain: flooding on floor everytime we showered . Dont stay in room 128. Our AC kept our room cool, however everyday we would leave and the housekeeper would open the patio doors and leave them unlocked. We reported this to management. Air conditioner from above floor dripped onto our patio right next to...

Hotel Kissandros

8/10 Good

"The lady in charge couldn’t do enough for us and she put on a decent enough breakfast each morning. Her qualities stemmed from her good nature and willingness to assist us in every way. Her lack of English language skills meant she lacked the werewithall to help on other issues such as a lack of certain bathroom equipment such as a plug for the sink. Such small inconveniences didn’t bother us but it may do others. The lady’s son attended regularly and he could speak English more than adequately. The room was always clean and everyone down at breakfast seemed to be perfectly happy with the place."

Private paradise with heated pool Peace, comfort. Goddess and large garden

10/10 Excellent

"If you are wanting a 5 star hotel this is not the place for you however if you are wanting a very Cretian villa with a beautiful pool and garden and a host who goes the extra mile then this is the place. Vagelis (the owner) simply added to the holiday with his fresh fruits, honey and oil from his own olives. He was available for any help needed. Great place to stay and great people. We would gladly visit again."

Paralos The Maxine - Adults Only

8/10 Good

"Great sea views and easy 5 minute walk to Agia Galini beach. Room 212 was spacious, bed was comfortable, pool was beautiful and had ample sun-beds and shade, and the AC worked great. Improvements that would enhance the stay include figuring out and fixing the sewage smell in the room and fixing the moldy trim outside shower. Lacked basic amenities like hair conditioner, had a bottle of hand lotion in the shower instead of hair conditioner- which was really weird. When you leave the room, all electricity turns off which means the mini refrigerator and freezer turn off- you come back to melted ice and warm beer. There is no restaurant on site. They do have a snack bar at the pool open until 5 pm. They have buffet breakfast with a lot of hot and cold choices each morning. If you want real orange juice, cappuccino, or espresso there is an additional charge (most hotels include these options via self serve machines). In the evening they offer a buffet dinner. Bar is open til late but does not serve food or snacks. We really missed having a restaurant to order from. Good news is plenty of great beach bars and tavernas were short walk away along the beach."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Lagolio?

The best area to stay in Lagolio is within the village itself for an authentic, relaxed experience, or along the beachfront just a short drive away if you prefer being right by the sea.

Lagolio village offers a tranquil escape, located inland from the coast. It's a small, traditional Cretan village known for its winding streets, stone houses, and local tavernas. You'll find a slower pace of life here, with easy access to the surrounding olive groves and a genuine sense of local community. This area is particularly appealing to couples seeking a peaceful retreat and a taste of local culture.

For those who prioritise immediate access to the sand and sea, the coastal area just a few minutes' drive from Lagolio village is ideal. This stretch features accommodation options right on the beach, allowing for easy swims and sunset views.

When is the best time to go to Lagolio?

The best time to go to Lagolio is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, September, and October.

These months offer pleasant weather with warm temperatures ideal for exploring the island without the intense heat of mid-summer. You'll find fewer crowds at popular attractions and beaches, making for a more relaxed experience. The sea is also warm enough for swimming during these periods.

For those seeking a quiet escape, May and October are particularly good. The wildflowers are in bloom in May, and the autumn colours begin to show in October, offering beautiful scenery for walks and drives through the olive groves. You'll find a more tranquil atmosphere at tavernas and historic sites.

Families often find June and September to be excellent choices. The weather is consistently warm, superb for beach days and outdoor activities, but the peak summer rush has not yet fully begun or has started to subside.
