Breakfast was amazing. Staff was nice and property was very clean. Public bath was relaxing. They charged room tax on top of what I paid to Expedia. Location is also good. 1 bus ride away from main attractions and close to convenience stores. I would recommend
• Excellent value for the price.
• Room sizes reflect typical Japanese accommodations—small and efficient, but packed with essential, functional, and awesome amenities.
• The public bath on the 9th floor was a fantastic highlight. we used it every day.
• Coin-operated laundry facilities on-site helped us plan our packing as it was a long trip in Japan. I would recommend the shortest washing cycle and lots of drying time. The room AC also has a dehumidifier function.
• The staff were incredibly helpful with absolutely everything; nothing was impossible for them. Provided a very useful map highlighting great local places to eat.
• Arranged the Takkyubin (luggage transfer service) flawlessly for us.
• Breakfast: We did not sign up for the hotel breakfast.
• Ice cream warning: I wouldn't recommend the ice cream sold at the hotel. There are much better dessert alternatives outside.
The hotel was easy to reach by bus from the station, you cannot cross the road though you can see the hotel right in front, you have to walk back or in front and circle back after crossing. going in front is better as there is a zebra, back is a pedestrian bridge (with luggage not a good idea). Cab is not prohibitively expensive either. Uber works. 200-300 yen more than the road taxi.
We really enjoyed our stay. Staff were super friendly and helpful and our room was very clean. You’re in walking distance to lots of restaurants and there’s a great ramen restaurant 2mins down the road!
I enjoyed my stay thoroughly. It was convenient to a bus line from which I could sightsee. It was close to Kyoto Bus Station from which I could catch trains that departed for other tourists spots. I loved the efficiency of the hotel in terms of being able to do my laundry and the hot soaking facilities. I also loved their breakfast offerings.
Great sized room in Japan. The spa was so relaxing. I was surprised that to use the gym there was a small cost. The distance to the central train station and to other restaurants was a little far for walking.
Good value hotel. Nice people, good facilities. Functional rooms, good beds. Pillows were hard though, and no choices. Ok location. Gym should be free though and the tv should be easier to use. The coffee machine at breakfast should be available and not covered up.
Check in was smooth, room very clean and well appointed. The location is about 20-25 min walk from Kyoto Station. We ended up taking the city bus for the most part to get around. Use Suica or IC card to tap off the bus. There's no tap on- just hop on and pay when you hop off. This location is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. Hotel has 4 washer/dryer combo and none were available so we crossed the street and did laundry at the laundry mat. Explored the neighborhood for an hour and came back when laundry was done. I enjoyed the stay for the quietness but would prefer a hotel closer to the train station next time.
We had a pleasant stay at Urban Hotel Kyoto Gojo Premium! One of the highlights was a delicious ramen restaurant just steps away from the hotel — a great spot to end the day with a comforting meal.
The staff was very kind and attentive throughout our stay, and the breakfast buffet was tasty and well-prepared, with both Japanese and Western options.
The room itself was modern and clean, but it felt a bit tight for a couple traveling with two young children. While it worked for a short stay, it was a bit of a squeeze with luggage and baby gear.
The hotel is not far from central Kyoto, but if we were to stay in Kyoto again, we would likely look for a place closer to Kyoto Station to make transportation and sightseeing more convenient.
Still, a very solid option with great service and a good value!
Really happy that we chose this hotel. The location is great (near the Kyoto Station for Shinkansen and close to Gion), the facilities of the hotel are superb and the service here was fantastic. My daughter was sick with a high fever on the first day of our arrival and the front desk staff (Tanikaze-san) helped me call the nearby clinics one by one and eventually helped us with an appointment. Because of that my daughter got the antibiotics she needed and her fever stopped the next day. We were all very grateful for the additional help Tanikaze-san offered.
Facilities wise, we really love the big public bath facilities they offer. It's the best way to relax after a long day of tour.
We booked a double bed room for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids). The room is slightly small for 4 people, but this is quite a typical set up for JP hotels until we book two rooms. So Overall, we still highly recommend this hotel!

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
The hotel looked new and the staff was friendly but a few things which were not good:
1. You have to pay 1000 extra for the gym and the gym is very small. Very cheap of the hotel to charge that for such a bad gym
2. The cleaning in the room was really bad. It was a ton of dust under the beds (probably many months since they cleaned) and all areas near the ceiling were very dusty
3. The pool area was only for naked bath. My son was very disappointed and this should have been clearer.
4. Far away from the subway
The hotel is located in a good area--close to Gojo and Omiya subway stations. There is an excellent ramen shop right next door that is very affordable. Convenience stores are close by as are two laubdromats if the laundry machines in the hotel are busy. The rooms are small, but clean. The staff is very friendly. On the downside: if you need an ice bucket, you have to rent one. I've been in hotels all over the world--never had to rent an ice bucket! The "gym" is miniscule (one universal machine, limited dumbbells, two treadmills, a stationary bike and an elliptical machine) and if you want to use it, it's a 1000 yen fee for two hours. Again, nowhere have I ever stayed in a hotel that charges for the gym! The breakfast situation is also a bit of a mess. The hotel has nine floors and more than two-hundred rooms; the breakfast area can accommodate fifty, at best, so as a result guests are asked to select a breakfast time (half-hour increments from 06:30-9:30) and arrive at their scheduled time. This is a solution, but it doesn't always work when there are large tour groups all eating at the same time. Our 7:00 breakfast this morning was delayed by almost 20 minutes. It's not a deal-breaker, but be aware of the situation. All-in-all, a good hotel for the price and for easy access to transportation and dining options.
