Our favorite place we have ever stayed. Service was excellent and it was an extremely peaceful environment (which we desperately needed after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo). The breakfast was fantastic each morning, and the kaiseki dinner we enjoyed on our first night was easily one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. We will be back any time we visit Kyoto.

This is one of my favorite hotels that I have ever stayed in. Everything was absolutely perfect. The staff is fantastic, the setting is beyond beautiful and the food was otherworldly. Every detail was perfection. We loved it!

We stayed one night and it was an amazing experience. The authentic inn is quiet and comfortable. Though I speak Japanese the staff member that assisted us the most spoke perfect English. The bath was prepared for us on time and we had the best sleep of our trip in Japan. The breakfast was delicious and refreshing. I can't recommend this inn enough.

The breakfast was amazing!! I have an egg, fish and sesame seeds allergy and I was still able to eat most of the breakfast. They were so accommodating. My bf and I were a bit iffy about shared shower but if you book the private onsen you can use the shower there! It’s in such a great area and walkable!

Beautiful Ryokan located near Kyoto station with almost 200 years of history. Breakfast and dinner options were superb. Staff was super friendly and attentive. It was also really nice meeting the Chef and Owner. Will definitely stay back here again on my next visit to Kyoto.

We spent two nights at the Izuyasu and greatly enjoyed our stay. This is a traditional inn, which has been owned by the same family for seven generations. They were extremely hospitable and have a combination of family and English-speaking staff running the inn. The owner took the time to share with us the history of the inn and the significance of some of the decorations, which we very much appreciated. We had a Kaiseki dinner at the inn one evening and it was an absolute treat, with a menu that changes every two weeks according to the 24 Japanese seasons. Highly recommend this and it needs to be booked in advance. Holly and Enrique provided us with terrific suggestions on things to do in the area and restaurants. The inn is well located with easy access to sights, parks and transport. We took trains and buses everywhere.

Staying here, and opting for the absolutely amazing dinner, was the highlight of our first time trip to Japan! If you want to experience the traditional Japanese lifestyle, this is the place to stay. The room, the private bath, the traditional clothing provided, and the breakfast and dinner meals were all top quality.

This by far was my favorite experience in Japan, I wish I had stayed more than one night. The private onsen was amazing, and the room was big and cozy. The staff was also so great and very kind and helpful! I highly highly recommend staying at this ryokan!

Wonderful stay. We ordered massages and it was some of the best we had experienced. We hadn't realized that the kitchen was closed on Wednesdays and Sundays, so that was important to know ahead of time as we had missed the opportunity for the traditional dinner
