Also, we didn't know that our kids had to sleep on futon mattresses on the floor. They had horrible sleep. Wish it was the room with the photo. Our corner room was spacious, with sensational views over the city, hills and Shirakawa River. The bed was firm, the shower strong and the amenities were decent for our five night stay. One of the things we liked most about the hotel was its lobby and lounge area, with picture windows taking in the river and autumn leaves and books to enjoy on a cold afternoon. It had such a calm atmosphere. Breakfast was served here (delicious and good value at 1500 per person), as was complimentary tea and coffee during the day and drinks in the evening, which we enjoyed before heading out to dinner. The staff were really nice and so helpful, and we liked that it was in a quiet part of Kyoto, yet close to various sights and restaurants and right next to a subway station making it easy to get around. Perfect stay We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Kyoto for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The service here was fantastic - we arrived a few hours before check in and dropped our bags off and when we returned to check in the bags had been taken to our room. Check in was really smooth and speedy too! The room itself was spotless and had everything you needed for an enjoyable stay - including a very comfortable bed! The shower has to be the best one I’ve ever used in a hotel - it felt like you were in a spa and the toiletries were really high quality too! The lobby area was really modern and the hotel offered free drinks and snacks for a couple of hours every night which was the perfect chance to relax after a day of exploring! The location was really good too!
