The bed was a hard futon and the pillow was just as hard. The A/C was constantly failing and I was forced to crack the window letting in the street noise a block from Kyoto station. While the staff was lovely I’m sure I was the only westerner. The breakfast required buying a ticket from the front desk and much of the menu was never available. Thank god for Japanese convenience stores. The local Izakayas really weren’t interested in tourists.
