We took a gamble staying here with it being a new hotel and there being no reviews but it absolutely paid off!! We had a wonderful stay here! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and the rooms are really spacious!! The photos of the hotel dont do it justice. Its also spotlessly clean and they provide you with absolutely everything; face masks on arrival, perfect self pamper following a day of exploring! They also provide you with creams, all the toiletries you need, hair bobbles, ear plugs,...

Loved the location of being nearer the old side of Kyoto. Spacious lobby was lovely along with rooftop bar. Balance between sympathetic design and modern luxury. Breakfast was excellent and very varied to others we had in Japan. Room was good and a generous size. Ground floor didn’t have much light but that was okay as we were out all day. Only negatives, only one chair in room and not many places to be comfy and relax. No bath. Laundrette was not nearly big enough, turned out to be very...

Exquisitely beautiful and elegant hotel in a prime location in central Kyoto next to the local market and shops. 2 metro stops away from Kyoto station where you can catch the Shinkansen to Tokyo or Osaka. The staff are incredibly lovely, they are the most polite people and want to help with everything. They safely stored our bags before and after our stay so we could maximise exploring Kyoto. The hotel is presented very well with a classic modern Japanese feel. The room was very spacious with...

Whilst it’s slightly out of town centre, it is within walking distance of a number of attractions, and close to the subway. We used the subway a lot, and got the direct Hankyu line to Osaka an couple of times. Enjoyed the breakfast, and the complementary food etc in the lounge. I cam highly recommend it

Lovely hotel, family of four staying and room was very spacious. Good location for market, pontocho alley and gion

A great stay. Room was lovely and spacious. Great view. Breakfast was delicious. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Rooftop has free snacks and drinks with a fire pit. Had such a lovely time

Very modern Japanese aesthetic with traditional service. Very hard to fault, very helpful staff, great food choices and extraordinarily clean.

The hotel is fairly new. It is centrally located within the district we stayed in about 4 km from Kyoto Station. The hotel staff were very helpful when we had to change our travel plans due to the cyclone that hit Tokyo and managed to find us alternative rooms in the hotel. Excellent service.

Excellent super modern hotel with reasonable size rooms within 5 minutes walking distance of metro. Good base for Kyoto with regular buses to Gion. Reception staff are super helpful. Drinks and pastries free all day !

Very clean and convenient hotel. The room was spacious and the facilities excellent. Breakfast at the hotel was good and all the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s plenty of good restaurants and dining options nearby as well.

Beautiful hotel, with wonderful amenities and convenient location. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Amazing hotel. It has a really central location with so much within a few minutes walk. The hotel is quiet and comfortable with really friendly staff. I wouldn’t hesitate to book for my next trip to Kyoto

The Asai Kyoto Shijo Hotel was without a doubt, my favorite hotel we stayed in during our trip to Japan. Absolutely lovely design, comfortable beds, and amazing water pressure in the shower. The neighborhood was convenient and walkable, with options for sights, food, and coffee nearby! I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and recommend to friends traveling to Kyoto.

Our room was very spacious and totally quiet. The area was busy but perfectly situated for transport, shopping and dining whilst being in the heart of the city and yet only half an hours walk from most of the numerous major attractions. The staff were helpful and friendly and the free coffee etc was very welcome. We’d definitely return should we have the opportunity.

Had a lovely stay, the room had a superb view and the staff were wonderful

Check in & out was so quick & easy, especially checking out - you just put your key card into a machine & you’re done. The hotel is in a great area as indicated by the ‘What did you like?’ section above. The rooms were always cleaned & restocked with bottled water, towels, etc.

Such a lovely hotel with amazing staff and beautiful rooms. The hotel itself is really cool and comfortable and situated in a lovely neighborhood. We all loved our stay here.
