"Great location with good room sizes. Only down side is no food on premise but they have microwaves, ovens/toasters, free coffee and tea and a big lounge/eating area. Parking is free but does fill up by the evening so be mindful of that if planning on arriving late."

"It was the perfect gateway into our Ryokan/onsen experience with beautiful & spacious accommodations in a super private and relaxing setting. Having our own onsen with view of the mountains was an absolute dream after a week in the big cities.
The attentive staff were exceptional and brought dinner to our room that we cooked over the coals for a unique experience.
Overall an incredible retreat to come back to after a busy day of onsen hopping. Truly a first class experience!"

The Ryokan was so lovely and quiet. A true oasis. Accommodation really well appointed and the food was amazing. The little area with snacks, coffee, water etc was appreciated. The staff were so friendly with impeccable service.

Thsi is the second time we've stayed at Bettei Soan, it's an amazing place to stay. The service is impeccable, the villas are beautiful and have every amenity you could possibly need. The private onsen is wonderful, and the japanese breakfast is delightful. I cannot fault it

We spent the whole day & night in this onsen ryokan as our rest day after 10 days of travelling in Japan, and also to celebrate my partner's birthday. The private outdoor hot spring bath with the view of volcano aso mount is unbeatable, the shower is large and water temperature & control are perfect. The service was so- so- so good (but you need a little knowledge of japanese to be able to communicate better, or, prepare a translator on your phone!). I made a last minute request to add a...

Enjoyed our luxurious stay. Everyone was so friendly and kind. The property and area are beautiful.
We booked a room with a private bath to add to the luxury. Also a bit shy being westerners so got to enjoy a lot of baths without feeling uncomfortable.
Food was good and presentation was gorgeous. Almost too much for us but that seems to be standard with kaiseki meals!

Lovely ryokan. We didn’t take the meals, and they were served in a dining area, not in the room. But the staff informed us of the early closing hours of locals restaurants and izakaya, and they booked tables for us at both, which was very helpful.
They picked us up and dropped us off at the bus stop on arrival/departure.
The room was spacious, very clean, with a large window looking out over the forest.

Buffet breakfast were offered for free and of high quality. Room is just standard twin size, which is relatively small when compare to other onsen resort.

Very relaxing stay. Room was lovely, homely and comfy. Food fantastic, apart from raw horsemeat that was served which wasn't for me. Onsen was lovely. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy to get to from the bus from Hakata. It's the first ryokan down the hill from the bus stop. There's no sign in English outside but google translate confirmed we were at right place.
