LOVED our stay here! Initially when we were looking into booking, we thought it was expensive but figured... Why not, it's our honeymoon and who knows if we'll ever get another opportunity to book something like this. Honestly... Worth every penny!! We booked the room with the private onsen and it was wonderful. The onsen itself was really nice to have after all the walking we did. We also had our breakfast and dinner included and it was delicious! Would recommend this place to others and would definitely come back! Staff was also so friendly and accommodating!
We truly appreciated the excellent service and attention to detail. We would absolutely stay here again when we plan to hike on Mt. Fuji and have highly recommended this hotel to our friends visiting in Kawaguchiko.
Very pleasant rooms, relaxing spa with a view of the lake, nice view of Mt. Fuji from the top floor, and an amazing kaiseki dinner and morning breakfast.
We booked one night stay. It was excellent stay very authentic room and onsen was so relaxing and everything close by. Definitely recommend for everyone one. And staff very polite and helpful.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, and the shuttle was very convenient. The hotel was beautiful and the room was large and comfortable with an amazing view. The onsen great as well. Our favorite hotel we stayed at, we would love to stay here again.
I loved how clean and well maintained this property was. The rooms being itself was very spacious and we had a beautiful view of the lake across the street. Staff were very friendly and offer a ride services going to and from Kawaguchiko Station which was very helpful. It was also a short walk to Kawaguchiko Lake, My Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, and various convenience stores and restaurants. We were also served a large Japanese breakfast in the morning. I was traveling with someone with severe food allergies so was presently surprised by how thoughtful and accommodating staff was about alterations to the meal.
We stayed one night at Kasuitei Ooya, and it turned out to be the highlight of our time in Japan. The ryokan gets the traditional experience right without it feeling staged — tatami rooms, yukata, and a real sense of care in everything. Our room had a lake view and a private bath, which our teenagers enjoyed as much as we did.
The kaiseki dinner was outstanding: beautifully presented course after course with local ingredients we didn't see anywhere else on the trip, and breakfast the next morning was just as good. The onsen is on the 7th floor, and the same floor has a viewing area where we caught the clearest Mt Fuji view of our stay at sunrise.
What tied it all together was the staff. From check-in through to the shuttle back to the station, they were warm, unhurried, and seemed to anticipate what we needed before we asked. If you're deciding whether to build a ryokan night into a Japan trip, this is the place to do it.
Overall i don’t think the price for the room with private onsen with half board included is worth it. Summary of pros and cons.
Cons:
- there was a level 4 evacuation alert in the locality of kawaguchiko 2 days before our check in. We wrote them to check what we should do (go, no go, etc) and we never heard back
- the kaiseki dinner in general was ok, not delicious. The amount of food was a lot
- the property says they offer pick up from the station, however we never heard from them regarding check in details or whether we needed a pick up.
Pros:
- the room was spacious, the pijamas and yukatas provided were comfortable
- a couple items from the kaiseki dinner and breakfast buffet were very tasty
We absolutely loved our stay at Kasuitei Ooya. The whole vibe and decor of the ryokan (room and building overall) was very calming and captivating. The breakfast and dinner provided was phenomenal and everything we ate was fresh.
The beds were tad bit less comfy then what we have previously experienced with japanese futons but rest assured, they are still very comfortable to sleep on.
The staff were all super friendly, helpful and very accomodating to our needs.
We are very greatful for this experience and would certainly stay here again if given the opportunity.
Honestly the highlight of our entire trip. One night and it exceeded every single expectation we had.
The kaiseki dinner was absolutely brilliant. The in-room private onsen facing the lake was just incredible. And the staff were something else, so kind, so attentive, so genuinely invested in making sure we had the best time. One night was nowhere near enough but they made every moment of it count.
100% recommended. Do not even think twice about it.
