Stayed here a number of times. It's perfect for a quiet retreat with no distractions such as TV or phones. Owner tim is always on hand polite and helpful. Highly recommend the place.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at, food was delicious, staff were friendly and helpful. Very quiet hotel, right next to the castle. Everything was beautifully decorated, would definitely recommend!

The back road is a worm hole in space time connecting Bebbanberg with Paris, Texas. Purdy Lodge is lying low and as you crackle along the gravel through the truck-stop it would be no surprise to see Travis squinting into the low winter sun as he shambles past the all night gas station into the drug store to get some ice. Purdy has it sussed. Rooms are for sleeping so they are full of bed. The window looks out over freshly stubbled fields at a pink and blue horizon. The bar is flanked by tall...

We just booked a double room so when we turned up and were shown the Garden room we were chuffed it was like a mini suite. The staff were friendly and chatty nothing was too much trouble the food was good and the breakfast set us up for the day . We would not hesitate to recommend The Turks Head and we shall return.

Amazing, great little find. Bedroom was spotlessly clean, plenty of hot water and powerful shower and the bed was SO comfortable. The quality of the decoration in the room and the pub overall was impressive. Only minor issue was the duvet was too warm but then it was a very warm day. So many little touches made it extra special, Border biscuits, plenty of tea and coffee in the room and good quality complimentary toiletries.

Stayed Sunday/Monday - excellent welcome and room. Had an evening meal and breakfast. The food choice is very good and the quality of the food served was excellent. The staff are really friendly and professional and could not do enough to help you. In terms of access to some of Northumberland's best coastline you cannot have a better location. Everything and more than we hoped for.

We wanted to visit Alnwick Castle and Garden so chose Castlegate Hotel because of its proximity to this fabulous visitor attraction. We were welcomed by the owner and shown to a large twin bedded room with beautiful colour co-ordinated soft furnishing. We had a most comfortable stay here with plentiful tea and coffee making supplies. The breakfasts were delicious with a good choice of cereals and cooked. breakfast. the staff were smiley and friendly at all times. we had clean towels every...

The Inn was well situated especially for the castle, room was spacious, warm and well appointed. Shower was excellent, toiletries were pleasantly scented. It would be hard to beat the setting for breakfast in the SS Olympic suite. Staff were helpful and well informed. Would stay again.
