While Horst itself doesn't typically draw tourists for an extended stay, it can be a pleasant base for exploring the surrounding Lower Saxony region, particularly during the warmer months. For those looking for agreeable weather for outdoor activities like cycling or exploring nearby towns and natural parks, late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) are ideal. During these periods, the temperatures are mild, and the countryside is at its most appealing, whether it's blooming or displaying autumn colours. You'll find it convenient for day trips to places like the Lüneburg Heath or the historic city of Celle.Families travelling with children might prefer the summer months (July-August) when school holidays make travel easier. While it can be warmer, this is when local attractions, such as parks and open-air museums in the wider region, often have extended hours and special events. If you're planning visits to places like the Serengeti Park Hodenhagen or Vogelpark Walsrode, summer offers the fullest experience. For travellers prioritising a more relaxed pace and potentially fewer crowds, visiting outside of peak summer can be beneficial.
