This landmark Renaissance-style church is an architectural beauty and a centre for the local arts community in Leeds, playing host to music and art events.

Leeds’ Holy Trinity Church is an elegant Georgian-era church that not only hosts worship services and religious celebrations, but also contains an exciting community arts centre and performing arts venue. Check out local arts events, such as concerts and exhibitions, hosted within the spacious rectangular nave topped with a towering stone steeple.

Approaching Leeds’ Holy Trinity Church, you’ll notice the solemn grandeur of its Georgian-period design. Construction began on the grey-stone church in 1722 and its tall and ornate steeple was added in 1839. Gaze up from the building’s main entrance and note the intricate stone masonry that defines the tower as it tapers to a three-staged steeple.

Enter the building into its spacious nave. Here, you’ll find a convertible space that hosts the thriving local arts organization, Arts@Trinity. The organization presents community-led exhibitions, workshops, concerts and events within the unique church venue. The Arts@Trinity programme of events includes music recitals, dance performances and special collaborations. You might join a lunchtime concert under the beautiful light filtering in through the church’s stained-glass windows. Take a seat in the aisles and catch a film screening, live music gig or lecture. Arts@Trinity is particularly focused on promoting artworks and creative enterprises by disadvantaged communities and young people, especially in the fields of music and drama. A café and bar is in operation during Arts@Trinity events. The church is still an active place of worship, so you can also join the regular Anglican services held here.

The Holy Trinity Church is located in central Leeds. It is a 5-minute walk from Leeds Railway Station and local bus stations. The church is open daily for free. Some events may have an admission fee and evening running times. Check out the Arts@Trinity website to find out what’s happening during your stay in the city or drop in to speak to a staff member about the programme of events. Don’t miss the chance to see local creative talent in a magnificent heritage setting.
