"The only good thing about the property was the location. The room was clean, but very uncomfortable with low beds, no remote for the TV , a broken chair, and the slow stream of shower water was far too hot. There were none of the luxuries advertised, nor was the basement set up to eat/drink as advertised. Common areas were not clean or well maintained. The owners are clearly trying to sell the property."

Would highly recommend staying at the Gonalston Boutique. Not only was the room beautiful and clean, and the breakfast delicious, but the owner was the most wonderful host. She made us feel very welcome and was lovely to chat with. My only disappointment is with myself, that I did not discover this excellent place sooner! We will definitely be back. We booked this hotel due to its location to Donington Circuit. The location was perfect, the circuit being about 10 minutes drive away (maximum). The owners were lovely and very friendly, Beverley helped us find somewhere to eat on a Sunday when everywhere else was closed or had finished serving. Although the hotel is on the main road, the small town of Melbourne is quiet and the road isn't busy - even on a bank holiday weekend. We wanted to visit the local National Trust properties, which were all very worth visiting. The scenery was lovely (Peak District), and the pub we ate at was also very good - a recommendation of the hotel staff. We only stayed for three nights this time, but will be coming back for another visit sooner rather than later, and would hope to stay again at Newton House. The bar and lounges were nicely furnished and decorated, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
