DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum

We stayed this weekend. First impressions where good. The bar/lobby looked nice. We arrived in about 9pm and needed food. We went to restaurant and ordered food, 1 dish ordered was a curry. We got our starter, then when he cleared that, he told us there was no curry and we had to re order. We decided on another dish. We ate and waited for our dishes to be cleared and staff walked past and really didn't look near us. We moved with our drinks to the bar area. When done i went to pay at bar and they didn't have any record of our food/drinks. The bar person then went to find the waiter to locate the bill. This took nearly 10 minutes and tbh was just poor service. We went to our room, but the main lifts are all closed and we had to use what i assume are service lifts. The walkways to lifts are smelly and drab. Why close all main lifts as waiting on 1 to come, was long and time consuming. Our room was clean and tidy, but the walls not soundproofed well. We were on floor 7 and at 130am woke to yelling next door. We reported to reception and it took nearly 15 minutes for someone to knock on the door and sort the loud guests who had gathered in that room. We could hear every word they said and then in morning yelling in hallway and other room beside us. I really want to be positive as location is great, but the reality is your a 4 star hotel with 3 star standards.

Perfect location and great communication, lovely place !
